BLACK ( K LOCUS )

Is your dog Black , Liver , Blue Or Isabella Only ? aka No Red , Orange , Gold , or Cream .

If Yes then the K Locus will be one of the following ;

KK- Dominant Black
Kk / kK - Dominant Black Carrying Red
Kkbr / kbrK - Dominant Black Carrying Brindle

kk - Recessive Black

( DOMINANT BLACK HIDES SABLE AND TANPOINT )

Is your dog Red , Orange , Gold , or Cream with/without Black , Liver , Blue , Or Isabella ?

If Yes then the K Locus will be one of the following ;

kk - Non Black
kk - Non Black With a Black Marking
kkbr / kbrk - Brindle

( BRINDLE ONLY DISPLAYS ON TOP OF RED , BLACK AND RED MUST BE PRESENT )

LIVER ( B LOCUS )

Is your dog Liver , Or Isabella Only Or Liver with Red Orange Gold or Cream ?

If Yes then the B Locus will be one of the following ;

bb - Liver
bb - Isabella
bb - Liver or Isabella on Red , Orange , Gold , Or Cream

Is your dog Black , Blue , Red , Orange , Gold , or Cream without Liver Or Isabella ?

If Yes then the B Locus will be one of the following ;

BB - Not Liver
Bb / bB - Not Liver , But Carries Liver/Isabella

( THIS LOCUS IS HYPOTHETICAL AND CAN BE SKIPPED IF YOUR BREED DOESN'T APPLY )

ALBINO ( Z LOCUS )

Is your dog White Only with only Pink Skin ? aka No Black , Blue , Liver , Isabella , Red , Orange , Gold , or Cream .

If Yes then the Z Locus will be the following ;

zz - Albino

( ALBINO REMOVES ALL PIGMENT AND MARKINGS )

Is your white with a black nose ?

If Yes then the Z Locus will be one of the following ;

ZZ - Non Albino
zZ / Zz - Non Albino , Albino Carrier
ZZ - A Red Dilute / Piebald / Double Recessive Dog (Non Carying)
ZZ - A Red Dilute / Piebald / Double Recessive Dog (Carying)

RED ( C LOCUS )

Is your dog not entirely Black , Blue , Liver , or Isabella ?

If Yes then the C Locus will be easy to figure out ;

CC - Dark Red
CCch - Red
CchCcch - Tan
CCe / CeC - Light Cream / Silver
CeCe - Off White

RED INTENSITY ( I LOCUS )

Is your dog Dark Red , Red , Tan , Cream or Off White ?

If Yes then the I Locus could be ;

II - Makes the color darker or richer
Ii / iI - Has no effect , just a standard Red , Cream , ect

ii - This Gene washes out the color

BLACK DILUTION ( D LOCUS )

Is your dog fully or partially Black or Liver ? aka No Blue or Isabella .

If Yes then the D Locus will be one of the following ;

DD - No Dilution + Non Dilute Carrier
dD / Dd - No Dilution + Dilution Carrier

Does your dog have Blue or Isabella without Black Or Liver?

If Yes then the D Locus will be the following ;

dd - Dilute

( A DILUTE DOG CANNOT DISPLAY BLACK OR LIVER , IF A DOG DISPLAYS WHAT LOOKS LIKE BLUE OR ISABELLA IN CONJUNCTION
WITH BLACK OR LIVER THEN THEY ARE EITHER MERLE OR DISPLAY THE GREYING GENE . DILUTE LIGHTENS THE NOSE COLOR . )

MARKINGS 1 AKA AGOUTI ( A LOCUS )

Is your dog a solid black dog or has no red in its coat ?

If Yes then any agouti , sable , brindle , or tan points will genetically still be there but due to a
lack of red the dog will look solid . However your dog may just be aa - Recessive Black . This is a
very uncommon marking and when combined with recessive red it will make a pure white
dog with pink skin and blue eyes , similar to albino but without known health defects .

Is your dog Red , Orange , Gold , Cream , or White/Off White With Black , Liver , Blue , or Isabella Markings ?

If Yes then the A Locus will be one of the following ;

AyAy / AyAw / AwAy / AyAt / AtAy / Aya /aAy - Sable Clear Sable , Tipped Sable , or Shaded Sable
AwAw / AwAt / AtAw / Awa / aAw - Agouti / Wolf Grey
AtAt / aAt / Ata - Tan Points

MARKINGS 2 AKA EXTENSION ( E LOCUS )

Is your dog a solid black dog or has no apparent E series markings ?

EE / Ee / eE - No Effect

Is your dog a dominant black dog that is Red and White ? or a dog that is pure white with no white markings ?

ee - Recessive Red (Black/Liver/Blue/Isabella turns Red/Orange/Gold/Cream Respectively , Red Turns White)
ee + kk - Pure White Dog with Black Nose

Is your dog Red , Orange , Gold , Cream , or White/Off White With Black , Liver , Blue , or Isabella Markings ?

If Yes then the E Locus will be one of the following ;

EmEg / EgEm / EmEh / EhEm / EmE / EEm / Eme / eEm - Masked
EgE / Ege / EEg / eEg - Grizzle
EhE / Ehe / EEh / eEh - Domino Only applies to atat Dogs and Overrides Dominant Black

EgEh / EhEg - If the dog is not atat then the dog will show Grizzle , if the dog is atat then the dog will show Domino

( Merle is dangerous in any breed due to birth defects such as blindness , eye defects , deafness , skin
cancer , and sunsensitivity it can be invisible in recessive red dogs , so be careful when breeding . It
also only applies to specific breeds , so skip it and its modifier if you don't have an applicable breed )

MERLE ( M LOCUS )

Is your dog Black and Blue or Liver and Isabella ?

If Yes then the M Locus will be one of the following ;

Mm - Merle
MM - Double Merle

( DOMINANT MERLES SHOULD NEVER BE BRED TOGETHER )

Is your dog non merle ?

If Yes then the M Locus will be mm !

MERLE MODIFIERS ( H LOCUS )

Is your Merle dog not Black and Blue or Liver and Isabella ?

If Yes then the H Locus will be one of the following ;

TwH / HTw / Twh / hTw - Tweed ( Turns Blue or Isabella into Brown , Grey , and Tan )
Hh / hH - Harlequin ( Turns Blue or Isabella into White )

Is your dog a normal Merle ?

If Yes then the H Locus will be hh !

WHITE ( S LOCUS )

Does Your Dog have white in their coat that isn't due to Recessive Red ?

If Yes then the S Locus will be one of the following ;

Ssi - Minimal White
sisi - Irish White
sis / ssi - Flashy Irish
Ssi - Psuedo Irish
ss - Piebald
SS - ( Residual White / White Trim caused by a mother being sick during pregnancy )

Does your dog lack any white in their coat ?

If Yes then the S Locus will be SS , or no white .

GREYING ( G LOCUS )

Is your dog a Black nosed Blue Dog that was born Black ?

If Yes then your dog has the greying gene and its G Locus will be gg.

If not ?

Then the G Locus will be one of the following ;

Gg / gG / GG - No Greying

TICKING ( T LOCUS )

Was your dog born with solid white markings that developed spots over time ?

If Yes then the T Locus will be one of the following ;

TT - Larger Ticking ( Closer to a Dalmation )
Tt / tT - Normal Ticking
tt - no Ticking

( KEEP IN MIND THAT TICKING SHOWS WHATEVER COLOR IS BELOW THE WHITE i.e. A BLACK AND
TAN DOG WILL HAVE BLACK AND TAN TICKING AND A RED DOG WILL HAVE RED TICKING )

ROAN ( R LOCUS )

Was your dog born with solid white markings that developed cloudy or blurred spots over time ?

If Yes then the R Locus will be one of the following ;

RR - Large Roan Spots ( Closer to a Dalmation )
Rr / rR - Normal Roaning
rr - no Roaning

( KEEP IN MIND THAT ROANING SHOWS WHATEVER COLOR IS BELOW THE WHITE i.e. A BLACK AND
TAN DOG WILL HAVE BLACK AND TAN TICKING AND A RED DOG WILL HAVE RED TICKING )

( THIS LOCUS IS BREED SPECIFIC AND CAN BE SKIPPED IF YOUR BREED DOESN'T APPLY )

PANDA ( P LOCUS )

Was your dog born with large non piebald spots that cover the face , legs , belly and or tail ?

If Yes then the P Locus will be one of the following ;

PP - Lethal ( Dog is reabsorbed in the womb )
Pp - Panda Marking ( Does not rise past shoulders unless forming a "waist band" of White
pp - no Panda

( THIS LOCUS IS BREED SPECIFIC AND CAN BE SKIPPED IF YOUR BREED DOESN'T APPLY )

URAJIRO ( U LOCUS )

Does your dog look more like a Shiba Inu or Husky in pattern but isn't wolf grey ?

If Yes then the U Locus will be one of the following ;

UU - Displays Urajiro
Uu / Uu - Carries but does not display
uu - no Urajiro
