Well this is a quick ink and brush, fast and messy. Scanned and painted in PS7. Quick piece of venting
Okay, Well this piece I decided to make because I am fed up with the "Ideal Image" that is portrayed to us through all forms of media. I hate that so many people, especially young women are molded through the media on how to look. We are compared to an unrealistic mold and I think it's disgusting. From an early age we are shown what is "pretty" and are encouraged to feel that's what we should strive to become.
So we go under the knife, or we starve ourselves, vomit, develop a talent of enduring multiple eating disorders, mutilate our bodies...All so we can look "pretty" Well I am tired of being held to an image I cannot obtain without killing myself. I am sick of being insecure and unhappy.
I am a mess, frumpy and faulty,not to mention imperfect......Now thats what I call sexy.

i say to each their own cuz it is great fun victimizing those types and picking out their imperfections so that they go back in the bathroom throw up their gizzards

I really love the meaning of this, I too get so annoyed at everyone thinking you have to be perfect and because I'm not it used to get me down, but now I just like being me.
The colours are very nice, and I love all the cracks and detail on her body. Theres so much too look at without it being over crowded.

you are definitely right about the subject. i get sick to see girls tall thin and in shape but without any character or talent to act or sing or anything around different media. it is something real for this community too. i sometimes can't believe to people or the photography they +fav just becuz the model looks sexy. but i guess this is what the world is about. this is not a thing came out recently, this was a reality for the humanbeings since the life started for them i guess. beauty has standarts they say. maybe it does but than i am not a very standart person myself.
about the actual deviation now : ) i liked the colors, the purple is a very good choice for the subject and i liked how you used the bacground all the stupid barbies eating our brains since we are little girls.

I have two pieces that are a part of this series, which I plan to upload eventually. However they are not exactly as brutal and forthcoming.....They just follow the theme for this series, and have a much different look and style....
Oh I grew so sick being told how people should look and act if they want to be accepted and loved. The closest thing the media has shown in any recent time showing the beauty of ugliness (that I can remember) was Shrek, and that was only a silly CG comedy.....not exactly a role model for us "Humble looking" people...
So I extend my middle finger and embrace my ugliness with a malevolent smile

This is a great piece. You've done well to really nail the monotony of how media destroys little girls lives by enducing them into thinking that they're less than what they should be, thus causing them to develop such horrible habits that completely ruin their lives. The b/w media pictures in the background really complete this piece. Great job.

Oddly and eerily, I love this piece. It captures the self-mutilation that many young women to go through to obtain that perfect image, yet in reality this piece shows what really is shown. Good work, and good message. Definite fave.

Artist who complain about standards of beauty?! *gasp* The modernist already dashed open the brains of accepted standards of beauty and left us looking at boring dots and squares. I love the image, your gallery is very creative, bright, colorful and twisted. Excellent imagination. These all have a very jthm inspired feel.
