Saw the trailer this morning, and I couldn't help myself. What a fun design! I especially dig how blocky his feet are.Check it out here: [link]

I'll admit, the design for Ralph looks great, and from what I saw of the trailer, it looks intriguing enough, but seeing Bowser and Dr. Eggman in the trailer kinda threw me off. Seeing Disney tackle video games is kinda weird for me, they usually do stuff that's more timeless and memorable, not stuff that'll get the geeks swarming in. I'll still see it, and I'm hoping it tries to keep the same Disney spirit and not resort to lame video game references.

Actually, when I first heard the plotline for this idea, I kinda lowered my hopes for this, sadly. It sounds a little too much like Dreamworks' Megamind to me, only with video games.

Except Megamind wasn't about him trying to be a hero the whole movie. He became one at the end, but in the beginning, he was just trying to make himself a new hero to fight since being the villain gave him purpose.
There are alot of differences to separate this from that movie.

Gotcha. I guess it's more of a variation on a theme rather than lazy plagurism like what 2005's slap-in-the-face-to-Disney's-legacy, Chicken Little, was.

Certain video games aren't timeless and memorable?
And did you call Who Framed Roger Rabbit nothing but pandering to animation geeks?

ROGER RABBIT is actually one of my fav movies, and that movie tackled a much different form of media that seems more timeless, at least for me. I loved seeing all the cartoon characters of our youth together in one movie (who doesn't?).
I guess what I mean to say is that I just find it weird that Disney would put popular video game characters in a movie of theirs. That would be like if they bought Marvel or someth--oh, wait...

Surely pulling Roger Rabbit on a different media is not that big a stretch. Especially with such a successful media like video games. Especially when this one also has the "characters of our youth together in one movie" thing going for it.
I'm mainly just surprised Pixar isn't handling this.
