Description
well I saw this image somewhere on the inter-tubes and I knew what needed to be done. As you can tell I didn't know how to do it.I did my best, using GIMP
I used clone tool and real lioness fur from several images from GIS (Google image search). And then transparencies at around 54% to allow the natural contours to show.
Burning and dodging to try to get the right lighting.
The Lips I used color tools to keep the texture but make it black like a lioness, but then flipped the layer (I like this).
Needless to say all feedback is welcome.
If you want to show me how it SHOULD or could be done the URL is as follows for more of this lovely image.

its a great try! I have never used gimp, so I dont know how much feedback I could really give because I dont know the tools..however..to help blending ( in photoshop) when you select and area, its good to feather the edges to make blending smoother..also if you are erasing to get several bits of fur to blend together say on her arm.. id use a very soft low flow middle to low opacity on the eraser to get it to slowly blend in to one another, will soften up the sharp edges a bit..
also with layer styles.. Ive found that placing a layer of fur over the face and setting the fur to multiply and lowering the opacity looks nice, also setting it to hard/soft light and adjusting the hue-saturation-lightness gets it to blend nicely as well.. these things you have to play around with and see what looks best..different furs looks better one way than another..so its all different.. you have to try! you did a great job trying with this, keep up the good work!

Hey, this is pretty neat. It's exciting to see new photomorphers!
You can make the fur look more realistic by using the smudge tool.... maybe GIMP doesn't have it; I don't know. Use a tiny size brush, like 3 pixels, and just add strokes all over the edges of her skin so it doesn't look like smooth skin. Use the blur tool to fade it if necessary.
I'd also suggest working on the facial coloration. Lions have white around their eyes and they have white on their lower jaw. This could easily be painted on by using a transparent paintbrush tool.

I wouldn't go that far.
I doubt it was even the best I could do, but I kept making stupid mistakes (Not a big fan of GIMP) learned on Photoshop but I only have photoshop 5.0 LE and thought GIPM would be better.
