ZOOM IN. xDEeeep! I love how this manip turned out! The mane and forelock decided they wanted to try and fight with me at first... xD But then I restarted and tried again. :3 The grounding was a pain in the rear.. xD but I like how I ended up doing it with brushes and such. :3 But this is Frostbite, who is the last foal of Snowfire and Spitfire
edit: i went back in and redid the eyes. used a painting tutorial and Loveee how they came out. :3 i added a bit more of a shadow, played with some color balance and curves. ^.^

Overall, this is a gorgeous piece! I absolutely love what you did with the brushes, and your recolor job on the horse is fantastic. The hair you drew in is also superb, the lines are smooth and whispy. I especially enjoy the ethereal feel it gives off, like the horse is the spirit of winter/frost/snow, or an angel. Gorgeous.

I gave this 3 1/2 for technique and impact for two reasons. One, I feel like this has the potential for more. With the light streaming through the trees and the soft blues in the snow, I feel like a more dramatic light on the horse, with more shadows, etc. would have given it a deeper impact. Second, which relates to my first note, the horse and background feel disconnected. Part of it is the angles for both images, but a lot of it feels like color and light/shadow. It is not bad by any means, just could be improved.
I absolutely adore the work you did with the horse. Fantastic. But I would like to see some of that originality, vision, and effort carried over into the background, to blend the idea over the whole image.
