Chapter 8: Suicide Attempt

Sonya was at the base of Eggman. She looked at herself seeing that she was in a chamber of some sort to keep her from escaping. She growled as she tried to break the glass of the chamber. She then look at Eggman who walked up to her and looking down at her. '' WHAT IS THE MEANING OF THIS?! GET ME OUT OF HERE!!'' she shouted, kicking and punching the glass as hard as she can. Eggman smirked. '' Not a chance, my dear Sonya. You will not escape here. You will be used as a tool. You will put up a barrier for me from now on. I don't want those pesky government attacking my base while I'm out looking for the chaos emerald. Now just enjoy yourself.'' he said, laughing as he walked away. Sonya growled kicking the chamber hard. '' I'm no tool to be used! YOU HEAR ME!'' she said, with tears running down her face. Shadow was watching from afar as he walked away. Sonya lay there in the chamber staring up at the metal ceiling wondering about her life and how she wanted to live. She looked around seeing that she's in a cryochamber. Her eyes started to tear as she was thinking that she will be used as a tool to put up a barrier. She cried in the chamber screaming and kicking the glass chamber.

Meanwhile, Knuckles was outside not wanting to join in the party. He sighed as he couldn't stop thinking about Sonya. His confrontation with a female hedgehog. He looked back and then walk off to find her. He feels that he don't want to leave her with Eggman. Something in his gut keep telling him to find her and that it will change his life forever. Knuckles looked down feeling a bit confused of why he's doing this. He then look forward and proceed to find Eggman's base.

On a island. Sonya stopped kicking and beating the chamber door. She lay there feeling like how she felt 50 years ago. She thought it through and decides not to be Eggman's tool. She took her necklace in herr shirt and tore it away from her neck. She looked at the crystal remembering the first time she was awaken. She remember seeing Shadow and Maria. She was happy and that they were having good times. Maria would be there with her. She wanted to take Maria down to earth to see earth but she didn't know about her condition at first. She fell in love with Shadow and made love together. Sonya open her eyes not wanting to remember that day everything changed for her. All she can see is being used as a tool because of her powers. She clenched her fist with a crystal in her hand as she looked at it one more time. Then all of a sudden the base was being under attack.

Eggman was in his hangar seeing that the government wants to get Sonya to use her as a test subject and her powers to protect the country. She sobs knowing that she was going to be used again. Shadow use chaos control to teleport himself outside seeing a certain echidna on a aircraft on the wheel part of a helicopter. Knuckles see Shadow and jump off gliding to him. He clenched his teeth ready to fight him as the army and the airforce off GUN started to shoot at Eggman's base.Eggman push the button and started to chamber Sonya is in. She receive a shock as she used her barrier forcefully as she yelled in pain. Knuckles approached Shadow and started to fight him. Shadow evade his punches easily and started to use Chaos Spear against him. Knuckles dodge and started to throw his punch at him. Shadow jump over him as Knuckles punched the metal part of the base making a hole in it. He quickly turned around and punched him again doing Rapid Punch. Shadow dodge as he grab his arm and punched his face hard. Knuckles get hit and was sent to the wall. He slide down and started to get up barely as Shadow's punch was much. He grinned but heard Sonya's scream as he started to run towards her scream. Shadow cocked his brow but ignored him as he started to attack the airforce with his chaos spear.

Sonya' clenched her fist and then looked at the crystal glowing. She yelled. '' NO MORE!'' she said, as she crushed the crystal hard enough to break it as she let the crystal dust fall from her hand. She thought' Its a matter of time before I die. I may be the ultimate lifeform...but I do have my flaws. Maria...I will join you soon.' Knuckles hurried as fast as he can as he reached the engineer room to see Sonya laying in the chamber. He rushed to the chamber and started to punch her way out. Sonya looked to see Knuckles trying to save her. Her eyes widen to see the echidna trying to save her. Eggman use full power to use her attack reflection. He turned the nob powering the chamber up. She scream as she use all of her remainding powers to use reflection barrier. The barrier outside of the base was absorbing the energy and then fire back at the airforce depleteing all of the aircraft. Eggman was surprised at this power and was liking it. The X Tornado came with Sonic riding outside of the aircraft. He jumped up and started to make his way inside. Eggman smiled seeing Sonic outside of the barrier. When he turned it up the power meter started to depleted. Decoe looked at the monitor. '' Eggman. It seems that the power is decreasing for some reason.'' Eggman shouted. '' WHAT?! THAT CAN'T BE! Unless...'' he said, as he thought about the chaos crystal. He got up and started to head to the engineer room. Decoe and Bocoe was still firing at the GUNS hoping to back them off.

Knuckles break the chamber and then pulled out Sonya as he lay he down. Sonic arrived to see Knuckles with Sonya. Sonic looked at the two for a while. Knuckles held her looking at her. '' Hey! Hedgehog! Wake up!'' he said, feeling that he was too late. Sonya woke up looking up at Knuckles. '' Red....what are you?'' Knuckles cut her off. '' Its alright. You're ok. Don't ask why I'm here I guess...I want to know why you are angry.'' Sonya smiled. '' Well..Red....GUNS took Maria away from me. Simple as that....I lost the two I love....now...I can be..ugh...'' Knuckles looked down holding her tightly. '' Hedgehog!'' he shouted. Sonya looked at Knuckles. '' Sonya...is...my...name...'' she said, breathing her last breathe and then her body went motionless. Knuckles eyes widen seeing her that she is gone. His body shivered feeling like a rage is spreading throughout his body as he screamed out her name. Eggman was in the dark corner watching knowing that it was time for him to make his escape. He may not have the chaos emerald but his base won't last long. Sonic closed his eyes as he ran back to the X Tornado. Knuckles carried Sonya's body heading for the X Tornado. Sonic and the others made it out safely as the base was destroyed. Shadow disappeared as he was never seen again.

Three days later, Knuckles arrived to Angel Island and buried Sonya's body there. He engraved the tombstone. ' Sonya the hedgehog. A warrior and a hero to the end.' Knuckles placed white lilies on the grave as he looked at the grave. His closed and a single tear dropped down on the grave as he was grieve in silence.
