But for a fleeting moment,
Meet.
She reaches out, straining
To grasp this other.
He stretches,
Longing to touch.
Their hands
Meet.
But time never stops.
They cling, two islands
Brought together by the sea.
Pulled, their hold tightens.
She squeezes harder,
Nails biting.
Sharp pain -
He flinches, and the moment is lost.
Contact gone.
Then drifting away,
Floating apart.
Nothing but scars to show they ever met.
