Description This is the finished piece, pulled together in a concept frame of rusty metal and wires.

A journey into the mistreatment and misunderstanding of mental illness throughout the ages. Panel one concerns the use of tools, torture and bizzare methods to experiment on the mentally ill. Panel two is still rampant today: the wrong drugs perscribed out of lack of understanding: making the patient loose contact with reality. Panel 3 involves the famous labotomy, and it's rediculous effects.

All in all, our society is finally starting to help, but there are a lot of GPs who do not have the smarts to dispense medications to people in need: and consequently getting it drastically wrong. People should always go through the right channels to treat themselves. Don't turn into panel no 2.

Love the frame first of all. It adds character.
For some reason the one on the left reminds me of a Greek God of sorts, how they were portrayed. Second of Frankenstein and third of those black/white half face masks for theatre. I like how you've encorporated all three and allowed the viewer to have their own interpretation, also the colors are very contrasting. Well done. Def a fave!

This is really nice, and very original- especially the framework. I love how you made the frame part of the artwork itself. That is definately something you do not see much in artwork.

Glad that most of your pieces have a point. This one is nicely done with the frames- it adds tremendously to the piece because of how it tatters the paintings.

In some way, I was hoping, the wires would dig further into the painting (as painful as that could be). just imo- don't let that take away from how great the piece is.

Mike~ Your treatment of this very serious subject is most refreshing. Faving and watching. Thanks also for posting in Good Morning ... hope to see you there again! Patrick

I fear it is a mostly misunderstood topic, and one that has disasterous consequenses when treated without understanding.

I was really looking forward to this when I saw the unframed piece you added to my thumbnail thread of a couple of weeks back. I have to say, I'm not disappointed. The way you described how the frame was going to look, the way I had it in my head, and the way it's come out in reality - just masterful. I'm totally impressed.

I wonder if you could have somehow linked the wires into the pieces more, where they connect. Instead of just piercing into background color, as such. Might have been too much though - I have no skill or idea about this form of art. Just a question.

Adding this to my list because it deserves recognition.

I wanted to create a sort of tension in the framing, and that is why the wires are angled, and in that position.

I did skewer my latest piece with wires though.. lol.

The paintings are excellent enough on their own, but, wow, I really love that frame. Seriously.......wow. I think this your best work yet. Everything ties in together really well. And as usual, wonderful use of color.

I aim to make every new work my best yet. Nothing worse than artists copying themselves.

(gotta love the colour)

As and artist, there is nothing more rewarding to hear than what you have just said.

I am glad you enjoy it, and am also glad you look forward to my submissions. It seems so surreal that people say such things.
