Was browsing through my old artwork and found this cute little drawing. I drew this in 1998 for an assignment for my art class at the Art Institute of Phoenix. I had to draw different versions of the same subject using different styles. The others are blah. But this...I think I accidentally stumbled across realism with this. The shading, highlights, all in an attempt to make it look like the image I had found was purely instinctual - even accidental. I had erased something in the drawing and noted that it made that area look wet, so I continued the motif. The class was more focused on art theory than actual technique, so I kinda stumbled through this, then promptly forgot about it as I faced new assignments. Am very glad I revisited realism, after twenty years.
