The World Turns
Intro
The world turns, and what was, comes again. The stage may look different, the player might wear different masks, but the story is the same. The world cycles through love, through war, through hope, and through fear. One side opposes another, one empire replaces another, and the world keeps turning. Life is set in a pattern, and that pattern is woven through yet another pattern. Mortal lives have been spent in vain trying to determine the great pattern that rules all. Centuries of research by the greatest minds of each generation have come up with nothing. The great pattern shapes us all, no matter who we are. The universe turns and the world turns with it. Sometimes, there are great individuals who can bend the pattern to their will. Great heroes arise, ushering in eras of peace and prosperity. Great villains arise, ushering in eras of pain, suffering, and misery. All spins in a never ending cycle, but there is a legend, a legend that tells of the coming of one who will break the cycle. It does not tell when he will come, nor during which cycle he will appear.

It was the year 2300 AD, and science had produced miracles beyond expectations. Disease was completely eradicated. The world was terraformed into a lush paradise world of bounty. There was no poverty, no famine. It was an era of peace and prosperity, brought on by the great accords signed by the Eastern and Western governments. There were great breakthroughs on a daily basis, and the world was at peace. The governments of the world made good on their promises, and the people put their faith in them again. The mutual respect and cooperation was so great that each and every weapon of mass destruction was found and dismantled. There were no more political parties, no contentions between ideologies; it was a time of tolerance. Violence was almost completely obliterated. And then the unthinkable happened. The leader of one of the countries was assassinated. It touched off a series of events that began the end of the world. An arms race between the two nations began, East against West. The two super countries abided by the accords, and did not use weapons of mass destruction. Instead, they focused on superior tactical doctrines, superior infantry weapons, and superior vehicles. The East built a massive army of tanks and war machines, creating a mobile arsenal on an order of magnitude that the world had never seen before. In response the West created an army of power armor infantry and aircraft that specialized in the destruction of vehicles. A massive world war ensued. Decades of constant, brutal warfare tore the world apart. Paradise was lost.
