Description
I wanted to really push my texturing skills to the limit... I opted for a woodgrain as it is something natural that would be a good challenge to try to mimic. What you see before you is the end result. When I was in high school, we did an exercise where we cut wood to a specific shape/size... blow torched it and later brushed the black parts off with a wire brush to bring out the grain.. I tried to emulate this in the base of the structure as it was to me, one of the coolest way's wood could look.
Thank you very much for your interest. Made in Ultrafractal 3.05

Thanks. This one was super tricky and went through a few revisions before I settled. I normally hate doing monochromatic stuff, but every now and then I can trick my brain into leaving well enough alone.

I played with it for a while, but have been picking up other things like my tablet etc. I am probably going to get it within the next little while, but want to save up for xenodream.

thanks. I had fun getting it just right... I love ultrafractal's ability to shade 3d even though it's all 2dimensional.. I actually made something similar to this in woodshop (it was a pinwheel though, not a flower) so I had a visual reference in my head from.. oh gawd... like 15 years ago...
yikes.. why don't I feel this old? Ah well, I'm stickin' with it.
