Description
Log entry 001 (A very good place to start):I am entity FS-5477298.01.
(also known as Frelaêy-Shà, of the species Homos Ultimos.) I am the designated overseer of section 7892551.3390748.16544285 of The Experiment. This is the logbook of my experience with the Aberration, a saga of events that occurred within, and jeopardized, The Experiment.
As always, the best place to start is the beginning. Well it would be, if not for the objectivity of time.
Out of a tiny sphere resting calmly in the void, there came a Spark. The Spark was the Spark of the Universe, the Big Bang. Expanding the sphere with its shockwave and forming simple matter behind it, that matter quickly developed into hydrogen, which developed into stars. And those stars, in death, gave birth to the second wave; they created the elements of the periodic table, and from them grew the younger stars, the suns, and their planets. And these stars, orbiting black holes, formed the galaxies. One galaxy in particular was of importance; it was the Milky Way. And in it was the Earth, the Blue Marble, the Homeland. After hundreds of millions of years, it saw the birth of its most intelligent life form; humans. Well they weren't that smart; they destroyed their world in greed and fled the husk.
They explored and colonized other worlds. They discovered how to jump out of the universe and pop back in much farther away. Eventually they used this to begin colonizing the void; because the same glorious birth that created their universe was slowly killing it with Entropy. So they lived in pockets in the void, evolving, and during this time, they discovered how to return to the echo of their universe. Eventually, they began to combine with the universe as they explored it, discovering all they had originally missed, and exploring its significant tangents. They eventually began to transcend their mortal shells, and inhabit their Universe more fully.
Thus was the birth of Homos Ultimos, beings made from the folds of space-time, existing as their own pockets in the void. Some of these immortals grew bored with their eternal life and their ironically repetitive existence, and willingly faded. To this day, we have yet to discover to where they faded.
But those who remained concocted The Experiment; to create a universe akin to their original one, but with altered laws of physics, to modify the chemistry regarding life, and to make life-bearing planets more abundant.
Of course, we established Guidelines. They allowed the birth of the Firstcomers, powerful beings formed from the remaining potential energy in the universe. These beings were too powerful; they threatened to compromise the continuity of the experiment. So we separated them into another dimension of the same universe with The Barrier.
