Jet is a semi-organic off colour gem that was created in Earths Beta Kindergarden. While the rest of the Kindergarden resulted in Jaspers, Carnelians and the like, Jet was formed when the material injected into the ground fused to the buried, fossilised remains of a Araucarian tree stump, which then became her gem.
Being a Jet, she has the ability to control both electricity and fire- but has no Gem weapon. Her gem is also rather fragile, needing her to bathe it regularly to avoid it drying out and shattering.
Her physical form is intimidating to say the least- she stands equal in height to Alexandrite (who- in some references is taller than the diamonds), but she's very timid and kind.
When she first formed, she met her fellow kindergarden-mates (and the gems overseeing it) who all perceived her as a threat and attacked. After poofing many of them (and shattering a few) in defence, she ran off across the desert to find somewhere to hide. When discovered by Rose Quartz' army, Jet attacked them out of defence, thinking they were going to hurt her like the others- and fled once again.
She was an enemy of both sides of the army when the diamonds fled the Earth colonies, and was corrupted by their song. She now roams a large wildlife preserve, where humans think her to be a mythical creature/cryptid.
