And also pink too
I'm proud of my future
And I accept my past
And I'm proud of the spot
In life's play I've been cast
Have I offended you now?
Oh, it cannot be so!
I've mentioned many colours
And can mention more, you know
Why do people feel insulted
When you mention their skin?
When we're all equally squishy
And pink and red deep within?
So I'm proud to be brown
When referring to my hair
And to be blue and white
Why should anyone even care?!
I'm proud to be gold
I'm proud to be black
I'm proud of all my colours
You can surely count on that
Please get over yourself
And stop being so blind
Cause even though you can see
You've been looking with your mind
Instead of paying attention
To one's outside - their clothes
You should be peering at the inside
And focussing on their soul
So I'm proud to be brown
And I'm proud to be blue
I'm proud to be here
And to be writing to you
I hope that you learn
And someday understand
That you're measured by your heart
And not the colour of your hand.
