Description
This is a thankyou to all my watchers. After 3 years being asked to make a tutorial, it's finally here lol. Yeah a bit late and everyone has probably advanced past this tutorial level, but i hope it helps some artists nevertheless.I don't enjoy lineart so I'm using this recent one [link] and re-coloring it different from the original.
This is my full process of coloring lineart. I don't always use this process, but these were the same steps i used when coloring the original which can be seen here: [link]
It didn't turn out as well as the original, but i rushed it as much as possible cause i just wanted to focus on the process and it's the 2nd time to color the same thing. This took me about 6 hrs straight to fully write up and color so i apologize for spelling, grammar or just not understandable cause i haven't double-checked.
Feel free to ask questions!

Yes, hope the layout and such isn't too different from previous versions but I'm sure any version is capable since i only use basic tools.

What does the airbrush tool look like?

minties In reply to PsychoEmporess [2007-05-17 04:23:06 +0000 UTC]
Have brush tool selected, then the brush settings will appear at the top left bar. On the very left of the bar is a pic of a brush with a drop-menu arrow. Airbrush soft round 50% flow should be in that menu.

This might seem like a stupid question, however, since I don't believe in stupid questions, it is not stupid...
But, when you say "put line art onto a new layer" are you saying just the outlines (like just the black) or do you mean with the outlines and with the white background. I've been trying to figure out a way to scan lineart and not have to re-trace everything. Do you have any suggestions? (If you don't mind me asking of course... )

minties In reply to cancan-group [2007-05-17 04:12:09 +0000 UTC]
Yes you take the white background with the lineart, theres no re-tracing needed. Once you set the layer to type to "multiply", have all your color layers under the lineart layer.
For the first pic in my tutorial, look at the layers window. Where its highlighted in blue "multiply", thats where you can change the layer setting. This is only needed for the lineart layer.
Lemme know if your still have problems

What does block in mean? I've encountered that many times, and I never knew where to look to it up.
BTW, thank you for the tutorial! Very useful.

murasakirain In reply to minties [2007-05-17 05:23:32 +0000 UTC]
Ohhh. But why doesn't everyone just say color in instead?
No, I'm just kidding, you guys could say whatever you, as long as you bring us awesome tutorials like these, which I highly appreciate. Also, thanks for the help!

minties In reply to murasakirain [2007-05-17 06:14:59 +0000 UTC]
Well blocking in is a bit more specific, meaning to draw in "hard" the main shapes without getting into details whereas coloring in has a broader meaning from light, hard, or detailed coloring. And I'm glad i can be helpful
