I really think the background in this piece has more focus than the subject. Or at least my eyes give more attention to the dampened gray/black than anything else.

Beautiful in a sort of macabre way. I love the red tints in the girl's skin and on the squid, it really makes for a nice color contrast and brings out the dark ink at the corner of her mouth.
Also, I absolutely adore the way you paint. This looks like oils...I love the grungy, textures quality of your brushstrokes.
