Honestly, I don't know the brand ... this paper (a few sheets) I bought last year in my local store ... for the test. I only know that it is made in Germany.

It depends on different factors and the final feeling and textures you want to achieve. If they are color pencils with wax or oil, graphite, charcoal....
For realism and graphite I love the smoothness of Canson Bristol 250 g/m^2 but I also like the Canson Lineal sketch with certain sepia tone. Besides, I use Fabriando, Derwent, HahnemΓΌelle...
