First submission after a 2-year hiatus....2009 and 2010 was kinda hellish for me. Needless to say, not only did my drawing skills NOT improve, I also lost touch of how to do digital coloring.Oh well, at least I got it out of my system---always wanted to draw a pic of "Death Rides A Horse". Not exactly a very novel concept, but I was inspired by the same-titled awesome song by Russian Circles.

I had to come back to this twice, there's something really neat about it. It's so serene and casual, usually depictions of death are so menacing and 'action graphic' looking. But here, he's just chilling on his horse, waiting for a line of ducks to finish crossing his path. The horse really stays together even though all of it's skin and muscle is gone, its pose really still seems authentic. I really like this, I can imagine it in motion so easily. There's so much character in how subtle it is using a familiar and at times over-done concept in a different context. Good stuff!

Thanks for your compliments! I actually felt a bit sheepish about how it came across to you as deliberately serene, I fully intended to do a menacing and action-graphic scene but my lack of skills (and action-graphic horse skeleton reference pics) sort of prevented that.
