Description
This is my Finn/Fionna backpack tutorial. I honestly don't know how many ppl this will help cuz I honestly didn't know what I was doing when I made this. I apologize in advanced if this is a hard to understand tutorial. The construction and "pattern" where all me. I had no references other than the adventure time pictures of Fionna and Finn that I used. I chose to go for a more oval look than circle just cuz honestly I think the circle looks kinda funny when made into an actual backpack. It works for the show but not for me. Also! I know that my button color is technically wrong but I though adding some yellow would make the pack look a little more cute and fem. If you don't like the tutorial thats fine, I don't care. All I know is I had promised this some time ago and I finally got around to finishing it! xPItems you will need to make your own Finn/Fionna back pack:
2 shades of green Fabric one light green one dark green about 1 yard of each for beginners and about 1/2 yard each if your more skilled.
1 big button in whatever color you choose.
1 zipper if you want the backpack to be fully functional. (optional)
Stuffing (optional)
Some type of other fabric color doesn't matter to make a lining. (optional)
Fabric Scissors (sp?)
Thread in whatever color you want.
Sewing Machine (this can be hand sewn if you chose to do it that way.)
I DO NOT TAKE CREDIT FOR THE DESIGN OF THE BACKPACK!
(I also apologize if I misspelled anything in this tutorial! I made this in windows paint and they sadly don't have spell check. I also suck at spelling. xP )
If my tutorial doesn't have the right look for your back pack check out this tutorial! --> piggynukka.deviantart.com/art/…
I think the back pack looks pretty cool myself and a bit more accurate to the show.
Awesome ppl who have used this tutorial:

Thanks for the guide!
I'm sorry if I would've paid more attention to the tutorial, but I use cm (and can't be bothered converting from inches XD), and I only used this as a sewing guide. I also made a few more alterations to my bag to make it more functional ..
Other than that, 9 ducks out of 10!

Thank you so much I've been thinking about who to cosplay and I have 3 ideas so far and Fionna is obviously one but my other two I can't find many ideas on how to make anything for their costume and this has made it so much less stressful to know its so easy to make so thanks!!

The C is the strip that goes around the whole backpack to connect the front and back and create more space inside the pack.

D can be as big or small as you wish. I don't know what my final measurements for D were when I made the back pack so Its all up to you.

I could try, I didn't actually make that sword though. I bought it at Toys R Us. The process is gonna be pretty much the same deal as Fionna's sword just so you know. ^^ I Shall post the tutorial as soon as possible!

Thanks so much for the tutorial! It was really helpful, but I just want to let you know that your fabric estimate is way high. I got a yard of each and still had a lot left over. 1/2 yard would probably be better

MishaCosplay In reply to rebeccastar [2012-07-08 02:03:38 +0000 UTC]
Oh, Yeah I always suggest more fabric for beginners cuz I've screwed up a lot over the years. I should suggest an amount for the more skilled too. I'm glad the tutorial was so helpful! And thank you for letting me know! I'm always glad to hear feed back! ^^
