excellent work. i like all of it. the way the triangles are pressuring your skin and making slight shadows is really nice to look at. and i love the tattoos. and after reading a bit i discovered that they are called f-holes. i believe for no other reason than their shape. thought you might like to know that.

Thank you. I'm glad that you like this piece so much. The F-holes are actually the sounds holes of the violin. But they do have quite a lovely shape to them as well as being a functional part of the instrument.

Actually I do, but it's because I don't have the piercings. They were done for the shoot only. If I ever get to do them again I'm keeping them though.

The F-holes are the holes from the violin. They are also a tribute to Man Ray's picture. Basically they represent my love of the violin and that particular shot.

Very nice, though. I like the concept of just getting a portion of the violin rather than the entire thing. I'm thinking of getting a small one done on my left inner arm (basically, the way I hold my violin). And now I'm ranting. Sorry.

Dont' even worry, I've done the same thing before.
I couldn't see myself with the entire violin on my back. I like subtle stuff rather than very obvious things. You must show off your tattoo when you get it done.

i'm at a loss for words! this is absolutely gorgeous! i hate how people say that piercings and tats are horrible and ugly. how can they say that when there are beautiful things like this! i mean wow, that's lovely. it somewhat reminds my of piercings i saw on another girls back. she had.....i think it was eight rings in total, for on each side of her back, and she had ribbon lacing it together like a corset; and then she had one very intricate adn beautiful tat just below the nape.

I was going to have the corset piercing done on my back until the piercer saw my tattoos. He knew the min he saw them that this was what he wanted to do instead. He thought it would add to the tattoos and not take from them. I think he was right.

Nope, they are removable. Only the balls remain on, if I would have kept them. They were only left in for the shoot.

A-HA! I remember where I saw this now!! If you've heard of Man Ray, he has a photo quite a lot like this - it's called Ingres-something-or-other. Wait, lemme link you... um, [link] [hopefully that link will work] but I couldn't pinpoint it until this evening, I was reading a Taschen photography book :]
Anyhow, gorgeous photo, glamorous and slightly slutty at the same time :] One day I will get f-holes tattoed on my back, if I have the guts for it ;] Congratulations on your DD!

I actually took the idea for the tattoos from that May Ray photo, well that and my love of the violin.
It took me a long time to decide to get them tattooed on because I had to know for sure that I wanted them on my back for good. I'm very happy with my choice.
