Description Up front I apologize for any typos. I tried to catch them all. This tutorial was half inspired by who requested some help. Also by who has a similar tutorial. This is how I do it. May not be the best, but it works. Hope it works for all of you out there too. Feel free to note me or comment if you have any questions I didn't cover.

I used some old, excess clay I had around so these cakes are a bit wonky. Not to mention it got WAY to hot working with the clay so it was being fussy. If you use relatively fresh clay in a room temperature setting, you'll get better results. Ignore the screw ups and imperfections as best as possible!

Enjoy!

wit what happens if it gets warm wont it start to become squishiy and moveable again?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

MissyMayhem In reply to owltears [2011-02-05 00:41:17 +0000 UTC]

At what point? The clay becomes warmer the more you use it, if the clay becomes a bit too warm try popping it into the fridge or freezer for a few minutes. You can do that as many times as you need to while you're making it. Once you got it how you like, bake it and once it cools it's rock hard!

Click the "Download" button. For some reason the "Full view" squishes it still. If you click "Download" it'll load full size.

Wow, amazing tutorial!! Once I have lots of free time I'll try it. Maybe as birthday gifts for my friends ^^

I know! Hot weather is awful to work with clay!! The only thing I like about this winter is that I can, finally, work with clay without problems ^^ It's too cold for me, but this is a small positive thing xP

I know just what you mean. I'm in Southern California so in the summer my clay can make several trips to the freezer for a cool down when it just gets too hot. I'm really glad you liked it, be sure to link me to the finished products. I'd love to see them!

Thank you so much! Making them is actually pretty easy. Covering it is the only fussy part, after a while it goes much quicker!

Awesome so you should see all my updates! I am going to be uploading a few things soon. I am going to get started on making that cake from your tutorial but I won't be able to for a few weeks because I forgot my good razor blade at my parents' house...now I live two hours away from them at my college...and and my mom's not coming to visit until a few weeks. She'll bring it then.

Bummer about the razor, but I look forward to it. I'm close to submitting a set of petit four charms you half inspired!
