I am determined to make this all fit. I refuse to leave a single one of my vintage dresses behind because I know that if I do my little sister will steal them. These dresses are MINE.
I've started to set a budget for myself, now that I'm eighteen and all. With said budget, I could only afford three more suitcases for my dorm. Which means that my favorite books and underwear have to share the same suitcase to fit.
"Henna?" someone calls from my door.
"I'm kinda busy!" I yell back, punching the fabric down.
"It's important."
Everyone has been walking through to say their "last goodbyes", even though I didn't want a graduation party.
The boy next door walks in, his blonde hair hanging over his eyes and lightened from the summer months. He's had a crushes on my friends, and I've turned him down for them- they assumed I was heartless enough to do it. Which I was, but I've kind of regretted it since.
"I thought Bree said you were kidding," he says incredulously.
"About?"
"I thought you were going to college in-state, like the rest of us."
"Why would I kid about something like that?"
"I don't know. You've always been kind of weird, I thought you were trying to make a statement or something."
"Thanks."
"I'll miss you."
I shake my head at him sadly.
"You'll only miss me now because I'm leaving."
"That's not true."
"No?"
"I'll miss you more when you're gone."
