Description
Week 46
NO GUM TAPE OR STAPLES REQUIRED!!!
So this process isn't my invention, though I tweaked it a bit. All credit is due to this guy, right here: [link]
I was looking frantically for a way to stretch watercolor paper that did not involve staples or gum tape. That's when I found that GENIUS of a guy!
The only reason I made this tutorial was to get the process more well known; this is NOT my idea. I want to share with other people the wealth of knowledge that I either have or find!

Thanks! I had forgotten how to stretch my loose papers. (I use blocks most of the time.)

Thank you so much for making this! I haven't had the proper supplies to do this yet, and was a bit confused about it as well. I'm excited to try it

I've used gummed tape, so this looks too good to be true... I think I'll have to try it.

Nice to find other biologists/artists I also use my Cambell's Biology for paper straightening (additionally I also have Brock biology of microorganisms and Lehningers biochemistry - all of which are similar heavy duty books)

I tried this last night with a little paper... I worked. Then I grew inpatient and after finishing the painting dug out my hair dryer.... Buckled, though not as bad as without the treatment.

Yeah, it will always buckle SOME - its just the matter of reducing the severity.

MisttheWarrior In reply to FireGemini [2013-01-03 22:35:04 +0000 UTC]
It is to decrease the amount of warping that the paper does after getting wet.

Your welcome I'm off to the art store today can you recommend a good quality water color paint that I could try?

MisttheWarrior In reply to Ph4mous [2012-09-15 20:44:59 +0000 UTC]
Sorry, I have no idea. D= Been too poor to buy the good kind...so I have no comparisons to make. I'd recommend researching on some forums or going to dickblick.com and reading the reviews on different kinds of watercolors. Or you can ask other watercolor artists here on DA.

I have a few questions if you don`t mind answering them
Do you brush water on both sides of the watercolour paper?
Can all types of watercolour paper be used for this?
If the paper is already stretched, can you still do wet on wet technique?
Finally, what`s the point of making your paper stretched, I mean, why do it?
Please answer my questions, please~ :3

MisttheWarrior In reply to toofuckeduptocare [2012-04-24 01:10:49 +0000 UTC]
- Yes, you brush both sides.
- I believe so, yes.
- Absolutely, but I can't guarantee how much it will buckle...
- It reduces the buckling.
Hope this helps! If you still have questions, refer to the video I based this tutorial on: [link]
