Description
So I've always had a strict guide to how I draw my different MLP species, and today I finally nailed it down into one concise guide. So take a read! You're free to draw using this guide, just be sure to credit me!

COLORS GUIDE:
PURPLE
- Your basic Earth Pony. These ponies have a longer coat that the other two base races of Unicorn and Pegasus, giving them a fuzzy feel. It's nothing very big, but it's noticeable. Earth Ponies also have a typically bulkier build, and tend to be physically stronger than other ponies.

CYAN
- The Unicorns of Equestria. Distinct from a Kirin, these ponies are more lithe in build. Their coat is shorn, with longer wavy fetlocks on the backs of their hooves. Of the three base races, they are the only ones with cloven hooves. Their horns are curved, and can be any range of sizes.
** - Oddly, crystal ponies' horns have been documented to form out of pure crystal. This can lead to stronger magic, and an easier time learning it, but can cause horns to break easier.

ORANGE
- Pegasi, Equestria's natural fliers. These winged ponies have a minor amount of control over magic, being able to control the weather. Their fetlocks are long, but naturally swept back. Some pegasi have occasionally formed feathers across their entire body, rather than just their wings.

YELLOW
- The short-coated, cloven hooves are only ever witnessed in Born Alicorns. Possessing all the natural gifts of all three base races, Alicorns are incredibly rare. As such, an alicorn can be created through the gift of another alicorn. These have recently only been witnessed in three alicorns: Princess Celestia, Princess Luna, and Princess Flurry Heart.
* - When an alicorn is created from magic and not born, they will not possess this hoof pattern. They will retain their original species' hoof pattern. (EX: Twilight keeps an unicorn's hooves, Cadence keeps a pegasus' hooves)

PINK
- Kirin are the ancestors of unicorns; some believe they may also be related to draconies. Possessing a scaled back, fuzzier fetlocks, and antler-like horns. Different from a qilin, they possess only one antler, but possess the unicorn's powers over magic.

RED
- Bat ponies, not to be mistaken for a pony taken by a vampiric curse. These semi-nocturnal ponies have some of the longest coats in Equestria, resulting in fuzzier ear tips and fetlocks. This is due to the colder temperatures at night, allowing the bat ponies to be unaffected by the lack of sun and warm weather. Notably, their pupils are slit, able to dilate and adjust to different light levels. In many ways, they are very similar to pegasi.
**** - Due to Princess Luna's time as Nightmare Moon, she has retained bat wings in her reformed state.

LIME
- A creature born of a union between a pony and a dragon. They have a short coat like unicorns, but uniquely have patches of scales which sometimes resemble freckles. Longma can possess a magic horn, wings, or neither. All longma can grow horns, but not all horns are magical. In theory, longma can become "alicorns", but none exist on record.

GREEN & BLUE
- The both horrifying and beautiful insectoid ponies: Changelings. Changeling's bodies are segmented, and hard like a carapace. All changelings can form manes and wings. However, some have horns. Most changelings can only shape change, while the Monarch of the Hive uniquely has magic that is similar to that of a unicorn's.
- Green represents the corrupted form of the changelings, with broken apart bodies. Corrupted changelings lack a fully formed elytra, and are not able to close their wings when at rest.
- Blue represents the original and restored form of the changelings. Restored changelings regain a fully formed elytra, a full body, and a full breadth of colors.
*** - The larger horns are only present in the monarchs of the hive. When a new monarch is born into the hive, their horn is a tell-tale sign of their future role in the hive.
