Description 1+ Year of Super Hard work on my YouTube videos, and in the last month specifically, it's just become so much more heartbreaking to upload every single day, putting so many hours and so much hard work into each video, to just see... This. This is the result of my work. Because YouTube is luck. It's not my subscribers fault, it's luck whether you find new viewers or not. It's just so stressful, depressing, heart wrenching, and honestly... Not worth the effort/pain.

But I'm not giving up. Only the strong-willed can truly make it. And I will never stop working on it. Hell, I've been on YouTube making videos for over 8 years if you include my old Channel and it's crap, so I can handle a few months-worth of crap.

Never give up on your dreams. If it's something you truly aspire to do, then do it. If you quit because it gets too hard, like it sounds like I'm closed to doing, then it's not meant to be. But I ain't quitting. Ever.

YouTube Upload (It's the same, but it takes you to the Channel at least. Also the sound's a bit better quality):  youtu.be/bEceu6eAkBM

I'm really sorry to hear about your youtube woes. Tbh I only ever go to Youtube for the misc informative videos, pony episodes, and some music and cat videos. Other than that I stay away from it usually. I used to do Mugen fighting engine videos, but I stopped that a long time ago, and it was hard because I never got the recognition that other more popular Mugen uploaders had (Judgespear, Phantom of the Server, etc).

Maybe I was just a bad player in terms of fighting game nuances, but whatever the case was, I was starting to obsess over views and subscribers so much that I had to give it up, as the fun had gone out of it. It's just a short story, but it sounds like you're going through what I did. I hope it doesn't force you to give up on what you love, as few people can claim to do what you do. And the fact that you're mostly doing it alone (I think) makes it more amazing.

I hope things get better for you

Other than collabing with friends, yeah I do it entirely alone. My own animation, my own video editing, recording, and so on. I've always loved making videos, and getting to do gaming videos is a lot of fun cos I get the best of both worlds there.

But it's something I would love to pursue further than just a hobby. And even if I weren't too, it's just so upsetting to see the lack of result for the amount of time and effort I put in. I wouldn't say I'm obsessing over views, and I know you're not saying I am, but I'm more upset by the clear lack of progress. And it's no-one's fault, YouTube's a hard game to play, as well as it being entirely luck based to find an audience willing to watch your stuff.

I'm sorry you had to give yours up. :/ I can see why that would happen. My friend actually stopped doing videos with me because he was saying it felt like work, which I can totally understand. I still love to do it, every single aspect of it, it's just the reflection stage of looking back on the video you just made and uploaded and then seeing nothing for your efforts. Ya know? But I just maintain the attitude that one day it might happen and to never give up.

Yeah I know the feeling indeed. It's great that you're gonna keep rolling with it. I'll still watch ya on DA and whatever else you do, so keep rockin then.

Also for the record, the most subscribers I've had at one point was in the high 30's, and from your Youtube channel you linked you have many more than that, so that's something to be proud of

Yeah, I suppose ^_^ I'm lucky enough to get that. But that's part of the issue is that Subscribers are kind of just a number. That means 250+ people did like at least one video, but they don't necessarily keep watching or care for me as a creator which is what I'm hoping for. ^_^"

But yeah. 259 currently on WeeAddy31TNG, 411 on my old Channel, and over 400 on the MLPAnimationIsMagic Channel. I'm pretty happy with that, and on the MLP ones the people are very keen to see what I do. I really should stop being so lazy and get on with it

You'll find very few and far between situations where youtube subscribers will take a big and serious interest in what you do half the time. Most are just passing fancies unless something strikes a chord with them. They're usually the ones who click the subscribe button for light interests and independent of what they might actually feel (in my experiences anyway). Each and every person is different, and you can't please everybody all the time. Quite a few of DrWolf's (dunno if you're familiar with him) videos on youtube, which he does analyses of psychiatric workings among others in the fandom and beyond, receive thousands of thumbs down in addition to the thousands of thumbs up. Granted the up outweighs the down because he tackles serious issues that strike that chord with a lot of people.

Animation is a tad different, and is widely considered entertainment and therefore subject to higher standards, I guess you could say. You might be familiar with Snowdrop from SFS, Double Rainboom from Flaming Rich (bad personal history with the creator, had to do with an indiegogo campaign, don't ask ), Children of the Night or Lullaby for a Princess animation that was more recently released. They took months/years of work by a group of people and VA's for those shorts, and some animations never reach the completion stage due to internal conflicts or RL issues. It's a lot harder imo to work in animation when the market is so flooded with them unless you come up with something that really impacts a person to where they will take notice of it. And it's hard to do that in this day and age imo.

It's sad and wrong that a lot of the real world doesn't see how much time and effort goes into making and doing a lot of what I see on pony animation (yours included). I really applaud you for sticking with it. From what I remember reading a while back, while the details may be fuzzy, Lauren Faust herself had pitched her ideas to many, many studios for months on end to get her foot in the door. She eventually did with Cat's Don't Dance, Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends and other earlier cartoons with varying styles and humor, but it took a lot of hard work and trying to find people that were interested in what she was capable of doing and many rejections in the process. Nothing was handed to her.

I'm sorry if I keep emphasizing on the difficulty of animation, you have come pretty far in what you do, from animation with others work to rigging your own puppet(s) for your own use. I said it in my 1st post not many can claim to do that, let alone use Flash for animation purposes. Especially as a single person. I guess the point of this long winded post is that you are doing a great job, and if you indeed stick with it, you will one day get your foot in the door.

Oh, in terms of Animation (MLP-specifically) I'm kind of like "Hey, if people see it, that's great." But I haven't produced anything yet, really, though I am still slowly working on it. Got a short to make, just waiting on the lines from one VA before I get to animating.

My main conflict was with my gaming Channel. It might not be hard to make gaming videos, everyone bloody does them at this point, but they're still very difficult to do in terms of entertainment and time.

But yeah. Maybe, in terms of both Channels, things will change. I'm not so fussed about the MLP one, I'm quite proud of the viewerbase on it for something that has barely done anything (but will DEFINITELY do something when I can). But for something I work every single day on, my gaming Channel, it's quite the internal struggle xD

Sorry about that. I know it's hard when you feel you haven't gotten recognition for the amount of effort you put into a project.
Though I'm glad you haven't given up. I wish I could be as determined as you in getting my own projects on the ground.
Good luck in anything you do in the future.

Thanks, bud. This is probably the one thing I've kept at. I'm very bad at "determination" and stuff like that usually. I'm confident and stuff, sometimes, but yeah. YouTube's been the only thing I'm like: "I know I can do this," but luck hasn't been on my side. I appreciate the kind words And good luck to yourself, keep working at your own goals too. ^_^
