Description
Ch. 2Hey Professor!
I can still feel the warmth I felt when I was hugging my mom good-bye this morning; sweet as always but a little hesitant to see me go. I was headed down to New Bark Town and already 2:47pm, dark clouds were rolling in and I had already noticed Zora pawing at my pant leg begging to go inside her Pokeball because the humidity was messing up her hair, while Zoro was playing with the water droplets and opening his mouth to let the rain touch his tongue, I heard a spooky, lighter-pitched echo coming from the distance when I said "Why not?" and uniformly stuck my tongue out to catch the rain. The trip wasn't long after all the winds and the skipping rocks were in my favor (so I also avoided the tall grass when I could because I was still felt unready to travel in there).
I remembered the letter my mom handed to me, it was addressed to me a year ago but Mom kept it a secret I guess. She probably didn't want me to go on this adventure. It's like taking leave for the PokeArmy or Hoenn's Wailord Marine Force. There were a number of things I can sense the way my mom was feeling that she kept this letter a secret from me. I opened and read it:
"Dear pre-destined trainer,
It has my caught my attention that you have received a Destiny Bond with the mother of your twin Zorua. In appreciation of this wonderful feat, I would love to have a look at your mark because I have been looking at these kinds of Pokemon-made bonds that have been made. They seem to link the relationship between human and Pokemon significantly. Treat your Pokemon nicely. The way that you behave toward them exponentially and infinitely show the way they will become overall. This is a life bond, it's like they are babies and your their parent, its that same kind of relationship. I'll fill you in on it more after you come to visit me soon.
Looking forward to it, Prof. Elm"
Hmm... there seems to be a post-script that was smudged out with ink. I'll probably ask him about it later. Zoro was getting tired from catching just about EVERY raindrop, he was beginning to pant so I picked him up and held him on my shoulder as we were pulling up close to the Town. There were a couple trainers out in the rain, looking for someone to help out and give some advice, I asked one of them where I can find the lab and one pointed directions to me. "It's the big one on your right as soon as you pass these trees."
"Thanks!" I cheerfully said. I noticed some Oddish, Wurmple and Spinarak in the grass trying to hide from the rain. They almost seemed scared. Not of the rain... It could be just that they're over-reacting. As I reached the town border, the mood changed from an excited and hopeful to a bit suspicious. I saw a ferry with people from Kanto. A lot of them about my age, one that caught my attention was this girl with an Omanyte who had this bad-ass look about her. Dressed kind of tomboyish, she is probably a snobby. I'll just keep her out of sight, out of mind. She doesn't seem like the kind of person I'd like anyway. But it's really too soon for me to draw conclusions. Looks like she was going to the Lab too… great... Zoro was looking less weary now. So I let him down. We walked into the laboratory, and I let Zora out now that it wasn't wet. Prof. Elm looked exactly as I thought he would look, young, tall, and had a cool and relaxed aura about him. He greeted the 7 other people before me, with the usual "Hey, I'm Prof. Elm, It's good to see you, welcome!" then when it was my turn to shake his hand, he eyes and smile lit up with a surprised gasp! He looked like he was expecting me for a while, considering that I received his letter about a year ago and was very happy to finally get to meet me. He wouldn't stop shaking my hand; He started to study the bond mark and was quite pleased with how the design looked.
"That Ninetales must have been really skillful in controlling her fire," he exclaimed. "This is very artistic. She used the fire to look like the two tails of both your Zorua swirled together. Let me ask, did it hurt?"
I replied "Just a little, it only hurt a lot very quickly. Then she licked the pain away. Like an anesthetic or something."
"Very interesting," he said rubbing his chin curiously, "allow me to take some pictures and do a couple tests on it later after this tour with the other kids, yeah?" I was a bit nervous to know what he meant by "tests" so I mentally shrugged it off and said
"Sure, I guess. By the way, I was also wondering if you could tell me something about Zoro and Zora."
"Ah, yes! I wanted to meet them! But um… where have they run off to?"
"Uhh… *looks near feet* they were here about a second ago… (They must be causing a bit of trouble again) I apologize in advance; they are very playful and curious."
"Ah yes, young Pokemon at play, it makes me happy to see them enjoy life together."
We searched around the room when suddenly the shriek of a Pokemon had broke the calm atmosphere "Hey you blasted mutts put Ommy down before I make him use [Wrap] on you two."
It was the girl I happened to notice when I was outside, I felt like a bit embarrassed so I commanded the twins to stop juggling the girl's Omanyte in mid-air like a ball. "Zoro and Zora! Leave the Pokemon alone now and come here!" The girl caught her bullied Pokemon and began to comfort it.
"Who's the jackass who owns these Zoruas who used my Ommy as a ball?" I told the twins to come with me to make sure they apologized.
"I'm sorry these two belong to me, the name's Jiro Takashiro, they're usually nicer than this I hope you can forgive us." I carry both Zoruas on my shoulder and look at them with eyes like daggers.
"Sure, Jiro it is, right? The names June, I'm from Pallet Town I've already got my Kanto badges so I'm heading to Violet town with Charlene and Ommy here. But I'm guessing not, we're not leaving for a while." She showed off her case of gym badges as she pulled up a seat. I was a bit confused about a couple things… "Question, if you have all you Kanto badges why don't you have your team with you and how did know my Pokemon species?"
"Simple answers to both of those. One, they are at the ranch back in Pallet and two; we get them occasionally while breeding other peoples Pokemon. They're so rare that we get good prices for them."
I was beginning to notice her snobbishness as she said things with a sort of haughtiness. She had her head up when she talks to show a boastful confidence in her achievement of acquiring the 8 Kanto badges. June was beginning to remind me of how much Zoro and her have in common. He likes listening to the tales of success on her journey. I decided to ask another question as she was dusting of the dirt on her Omanyte: "Wait, so your family are breeders?"
"I'm also one of the many nieces of the Pewter City Gym Leader Forrest and Brock. Plus, I've also saved the three Kanto legendary birds for Team Rocket" She nodded pridefully while taking a seat.
Zoro circled around her a couple times while taking a seat next to her. I felt Zora yawn as she stayed on my shoulder, she probably wasn't the kind for my-life's-storys. I was beginning to doubt what she had to say. It seemed a bit above and beyond. but hmmmm... she said many nieces of the gym leaders Forrest and Brock, it could be that the odds my be possible, considering Brock had many siblings himself. I responded
"Pfft... yeah right! Sure you are kid." I picked up Zoro and took the seat next to June, placing Zoro on my lap and looked at her with that sarcastically interested looked.
"IT's true, fine when you meet him asked him about me and you find out I'm telling the truth. And when you reach Pallet ask Professor oak about the second largest Ranch in the town, because I Juniper Michaels the daughter of Sam Michaels the best breeder in Kanto and Cindy Michaels the Dean of medicine at Saffron City is the from that house. And I will be the Champion of the Elite Four, an awesome breeder, and the leader of Pewter City's gym soon enough. June posed as if she was trying to touch the stars, and I will not give up on my mission to save the legendary Pokemon from Team Rocket catching them no matter the stakes."
Mom works in Saffron. Is this her bosses daughter? It's funny she never mentions her.
I laughed, " Well if you are the niece of the Pewter city gym leader and the daughter of the dean of the hospital that mom works at. Then I say we meet up in Cherrygrove City to see if what you say is true." challenging her words. She laughed along too like she was serious. It was almost enough to fool me.
"I suggest though that we wait for the rain to stop" she said while petting and playing with her Omanyte and the newly acquired Totodile she received from Prof. Elm. I guess I took a liking to her, she does seem to be a bit impressive with her experience.
"Listen, I'm sorry I insulted you earlier. I have been a bit overprotective of my Pokemon since I was little and I guess I think of him as a baby still. I hope you can forgive me." June said rubbing the back of her head smiling nervously. In her defense, I guess she wants to make amends and become friends.
"Sure, I can relate. Heck I get overprotective over Zoro and Zora sometimes." I pat Zora's little head rest on my shoulder.
"Listen I got something for you. I brought three but you can have two." June said pulling two rocks out of her bag.
"Are those everstones?" in surprise, I asked. From what I know, they don't let your Pokemon evolve when held.
"Yups and they're for you as an I'm sorry gift. And they're for your Zoruas" June said handing the smooth round stones to me. I looked at them for a bit and gave them both to the twins, both looking equally ecstatic. I guess she isn't as bad a person as she looks and seems, she's a kind of sweetheart who compensates for the rough edges with a warm caramel filling.
"I'm sorry again, can we still be friends even though we had a bad start?" she hugging her Totadile.
"Heck yeah! This is a totally awesome thing, of course we can be friends." I said cheering my head off.
The rest of the afternoon I spent getting along with June. The Pokemon all played together and at least one more time I heard Omanyte screech while being juggled in the air like a ball. I sighed at the view and just let them to their fun. June seemed like the kind of person that would most likely become a Gym leader or become one of Officer Jenny's deputies. As for me, I told her that I still didn't know what I wanted to do, I'm going on this journey to find myself and what I want to do. I was interested in becoming a Pokemon ranger just like Dad, but that all seems out of the question. Hours began to fly like minutes and soon enough, the sun had turned the sky purple as it cleared the rain, some of the other scientists had began going home after a long day of research, thus concluding the tour. I was one of the unlucky few who didn't get a complimentary Pokemon. June took her leave as well, vowing we'll soon see each other again. My PokeNav read 7:18pm and both Zoruas were laying on the floor, balled up on one another snoozing.
Prof. Elm came walking out of his lab, pacing back and forth, looking either preoccupied or like he was forgetting to something. I walked toward him and called out "Hey Professor! You were gonna check out my mark!" He jumped at my voice and snapped his finger with an "Oh Yeah! Come on back, I'm not doing anything at the moment!"
I gazed at him emptily with a WTH expression (Wow... thanks professor for forgetting me =__
He took some photos and studied at the mark carefully under a Magnifying Glass. He brought out his Hoothoot dubbed Archimedes and had him study my hand too. It used [Foresight] to get a photographic memory on it. It used [Psywave] to implant the visual memory into Prof. Elm, as though in a sense of inception by planting the idea into the mind. They both now had visual of it. I was beginning to feel confused as to why this is all necessary, I asked "Ummm, Professor, why don't you just upload the images on the computer and send me the results as soon as you find out"
"Ah, yes! Excellent suggestion"
"...(I wonder how you became a Professor some times, always forgetting all the time. =__=
"Hey Jiro, pardon my absent-mindedness, but how would you feel to a warm dinner and a place to sleep tonight? My house is right upstairs and I'm in desperate need for coffee, today with the whole tour and all." I nodded in acceptance and followed him up the stairs after I went to go wake up the twins from their nap, they drowsily followed as well.
