Description Experiment. I am trying to pin down a style for a project, but I keep changing my mind on what medium to use.

I like how this turned out, but still deciding...

(And that now makes 4 'Magpie with Clock'-related images in my gallery. Very specific obsession?)

EDIT: Oooooh wow!! A DD?? Thank you so, so much!! What a nice thing to wake up to on a foggy Monday morning!

Very nice work. What did you use? Lead pencils and coloured ones?

I think this style would great work for a comic

But what kind of project is it you are working on?

Thank you so much!
Heh, well not quite a comic, but it's most certainly heavy on the pictures.

I used black ink, watercolours, and a bit of Photoshop magic.

hey, cool, I use the same technique, but it looks so different with you - oh, I love how everyone has a different style, I'll never get tired of that

I LOVE this! <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 x 100 x 1000 x 10 000 x 100 000 x 1 000 000 000... It reminds me of an illustration or a book jacket or cover design for children's stories, adolescent books or adult novels. <3 ^_^ :3 I would be immediately drawn to anything with a picture or images like this. I'll devour the book, if it shall be in that form, then consume it again and again until I'm bloated and stuffed like Christmas on overload. And of course, I'll go back to it for the hundredth round of "seconds." Anyways, I love how simple and eye-catching this is, especially since the magpie and clock are beautifully contrasted and wonderfully captured in flight and rhythm. Excellent, superb, fantastic job! (Yes, I realize that I'm overdoing it but I can't resist lol. ) Now please excuse me while I savour this lovely artwork and try to resist viewing other artpieces like it...

Lol! Of course I like/love/admire/etc. your work! I'm inspired to make my own illustrations like it. But it won't be as whimsical as yours. Perhaps in another way, yet it'll pale in comparison. And you're very welcome. I love it when I happen to find artwork like this one and I feel something positive and long-lasting because of it.

This looks like a panel from an awesome, slightly dark kids book.

The Magpie was someone who was changed by a wizard. The clock is his soul, something like that.

Good stuff!

MO-ffie In reply to aspacecowboy [2013-03-19 18:04:47 +0000 UTC]

The project this was an experiment for can certainly be described as 'slightly dark'.
I like your interpretation of the scene!
