History
Kithood:
Crack In Bird's Egg was born to Leaf In Small Puddle and Spring Of Spotted Hare, along with his brothers Call of Swift Jay and Buck That Stomps Out Fear. Jay and Crack were pretty relaxed kits, the latter being more relaxed than necessary, Buck was the only kit that stirred up any trouble. Buck loved to play fight more than anything and was determined to be the strongest cat in the tribe, sometimes he'd lift the chubby Crack to show off his strength, Leaf asked him to stop lifting his brother like some sort of toy. Jay was a quiet kit who could usually be found by his mother's feet, he was a mama's boy who would cry if she left the Nursery. It was something he eventually grew out of, but it was an embarrassing and a bit annoying couple of moons. Meanwhile Crack was a kit who just wanted to eat and sleep belly-side up.
TL;DR:
Born to Leaf and Hare, with Jay and Buck.
Slept a lot.
To-Be:
Crack chose to become a Healer as he thought it would be less work for him. Prey Hunters had to chase prey, Claw Guards had to fight dangers; Healers could sit in the cave, sort a few herbs, and call it a day. He was right in some places and wrong in others; something he failed to realize was that Healers actually had to get up and go outside to gather the herbs, because apparently herbs don't just magically fly into your paws, whack.
Every chance he got, he'd ask to switch duties with other To-bes, he was the only one that thought sitting on your butt, sorting herbs was better than going out and being in the fresh air. Some cats thought this was hilarious, but some cats were more strict and would personally see to it that he got up and collected herbs, to make sure he knew how and where to collect the various plants. Other than that he led a pretty average To-behood, other than getting in trouble here and there for sneaking extra sweets, and his brother using his extra large belly to practice battle tactics on.
His Quest of Belonging was the worst experience of his life, it was nothing but constant walking up a mountain and then back down a hill. Then one of the Prey Hunters got hurt while catching a squirrel, so Crack had to find herbs in an unfamiliar setting, which meant even more walking. His little paws weren't made to carry such a chunky load all around the world.
TL;DR:
Choose to be a Healer out of laziness.
Healer:
The first thing he did when the group returned home was cram as much prey in his mouth as he could fit and take a long nap. Not long after he became a Healer, Hare and Leaf had another litter; two she-kits named Reflection of Moon on Water and Shine of Sun on Stone. Buck wasn't much for being tied down to the Nursery, the tom was still young and a bit naive. Jay and Crack, however, had no trouble coming to visit their little siblings.
Jay went out of his way to spend time with the young cats, foreshadowing his desire to become a Kit-Watcher later on. Crack took a more relaxed route, warmly welcoming the kit's visits, and spoiling them with treats and sweets when no one was looking. The little kits loved playing on Crack's big belly, he was just happy someone was enjoying his pudgy belly.
His spoiling of the kit's may have played a role in Moon choosing to become a Healer, because the she-cat certainly didn't seem to have the attitude of one. Crack was usually the one to teach the To-Bes about herbs and healing, and his sister was no different. He enjoyed watching his sister grow from a helpless kit to a strong Healer, even if she was still a brat.
TL;DR:
Ate a bunch of food.
Parents had a second litter.
