Kithood [0 - 6 Moons]
Jaykit was born to Thunderclan Warriors Ravinefrog and Brooklily, along with her brother Goosekit. Brooklily wanted her kits to be named after birds in honor of her sister Brightwing, who passed one Leaf-bare from Chill, after falling into the lake. Ravinefrog had always been the loud, out of control type of cat, while Brooklily was strict and had a presence that demanded respect; so how the two cats came together was a mystery. As kits, Jaykit and Goosekit took on polar opposite personalities; Jaykit was confident and went by her own rules, while Goosekit preferred to keep quiet and do what he was told. This led to the occasional clash between the parents as they argued on the correct way to raise their kits. But in the end they loved each other, Goosekit and Jaykit were raised in a loving family.

Apprenticeship [6 - 12 Moons]
Upon turning 6 moons of age, Jaykit was named Jaypaw and put on the path to become a Warrior; she was given Oakblossom to train under. Jaypaw wasn't automatically gifted, she actually struggled a lot with keeping her pawsteps quiet while hunting.

It wasn't long into her Apprenticeship, only a moon in, when her border patrol had an encounter with the neighboring Windclan patrol. It was just supposed to be a normal patrol, but Windclan attacked. Jaypaw was ambushed by the Windclan Apprentice Redpaw, who was seeking death upon Thunderclan. Jaypaw did her best, but Redpaw clawed out her eyes. They would have continued, but figured a life without their sight was worse than death.

Jaypaw spent many nights in the Medicine Cat's den, her eyes oozed horrible smelling liquids due to infection. When she finally was freed from the den, her sight was gone, she had lost her vision from Redpaw's claws damaging her retinas and infection clouding her vision. All she knew now was if it was bright or dark where she was. Her family stepped up to help her during this time, helping her learn how to navigate the territory once again, teaching her how to enjoy art without sight, and just being there when she thought she was alone.

Hunting still proved to be a problem, but for a different reason this time. Most ground prey, like mice and squirrels, were very quiet in their movements, they usually only squealed when they were in danger. So she started focusing on birds, they never shut up. She could tell when they were moving and where based on their chirping and wing flapping.
