BEFORE BIRTH
Graytooth and Speckleberry were not friends, they knew of each other's existence, but they never had a conversation. That is until one day they were on the same hunting patrol and they ran into each other, literally. Their skulls made an audible sound as they collided, all their classmates who were on the patrol with them couldn't get over the sound. They insisted they were fine, but they were dragged into the Medicine Den anyways in case they showed signs of concussion or other injury.
This gave the two some time to talk and get to know each other, and despite the circumstances, they didn't hate one another! They actually got along well, and when they were freed from the Medicine Cat's den they continued to talk and hang out. If they didn't have rocks for brains they would have seen how great they were for each other a lot sooner than they did.
TL;DR:
Parents bonked heads. Marriage soon followed.
KIT-HOOD
Longkit was born to Solsticeclan Warriors Graytooth and Speckleberry, along with his siblings: Palekit and Stormkit. Palekit and Longkit were very alike in that they loved being the center of attention, however Palekit wasn't above sabotaging others to get that attention. Sometimes it worked, other times it would backfire. One time Longkit wanted to show Speckleberry a ladybug he found, but Palekit kicked him in the face, causing him to lose one of his kit teeth. Longkit was showered with attention that day, while Palekit was grounded.
Stormkit was much more uptight, it's not sure where he got it from, but he was heavily dedicated to serving Starclan and whatever their wishes were. The tom was an outcast from the other kits, he hardly fit in with the family as well.
TL;DR:
Born to Graytooth and Speckleberry, along with Palekit and Stormkit.
Palekit demanded attention, Stormkit demanded order.
APPRENTICESHIP
Upon reaching the age of 6 moons, Longkit was renamed Longpaw and was set on the path to become a Warrior; he was given to Flamespot to train under. The Warrior was young, Longpaw was his first Apprentice. The tom acted odd from the start, and Longpaw was able to catch onto it, though he wasn't sure what Flamespot was planning. He didn't waste a moment, and chance he got he was out training Longpaw, not letting him return to camp without a spar lesson, patrolling all borders, and catching a certain amount of prey.
The Apprentice came home exhausted and hungry every night. Finally, Flamespot's family confronted him about it during a sparring lesson with Longpaw. They asked him why he was working his Apprentice so hard, if there was something wrong. After much denial, Flamespot finally revealed his jealousy pertaining to his step-sister, Smokefoot. She was praised by the clan for training Apprentices well and doing excellent in spars, while Flamespot never was viewed as anything more than average. He wanted to raise Longpaw to be the best Warrior in the clan so he could be praised as the mentor who trained him.
His family comforted him, and assured him that even if he wasn't praised by every member of the clan, that didn't mean that his part wasn't equally as important as Smokefoot's. He agreed he was training Longpaw too hard and that he would change that. When the tom's family left, he told Longpaw that he didn't believe anything they said, but Longpaw shouldn't have to spend all of his Apprenticehood following the broken dream of his mentor.
TL;DR:

During a confrontation, Flamespot admitted he was training Longpaw hard so he could be the best Warrior in the clan, so he could get the recognition for being his mentor.
Flamespot loosened his training on Longpaw.
WARRIOR LIFE
Flamespot's aggressive training did aid him in certain aspects, he knew the territory better than he knew the back of his paw. It was the tracking skills he learned through his training that gave him his Warrior name: Longpath. Longpath, Palepoppy, and Stormpounce's vigil on the hill was peaceful. The tall tom caught a rabbit as he returned back home.
The first few moons were painfully plain for him, until he learned about his weakness: toms. It wasn't that big of an issue at first, but he spoke with his parents about it anyways. They got excited and filled his head with ideas about finding the tom he would spend the rest of his life with, who would complete him and change his life for the better. This got him excited, but it also made him dumb around boys. Being able to form a single coherent sentence around a tom is still a talent he has yet to get a hold of.
