Description
I drew this at 3 in the morningMan was I tired the next day! hehe~
Anyway, I tried to draw some realism without using a reference picture I think I did...OK.
I need to draw more realistic things to get better.
The work still has that "stylized" feel to it so I need to work on that.
Used Ebony Pencil

It's still very cartoony, but I do love this picture. It's a neat style. I really like the way you drew the hair, it flows very well. And that eye is sucking me into it.

Awww thank you very much~!
I usually spend a lot of time drawing eyes or at least putting a lot of detail because usually that's the first thing most people look at :3
I tried my hardest at the hair because I kept messing up

Very nice drawing. I like how the shading is somewhat realistic while the image still retains, what you call, a "stylized" feel.

Thank you very much~!
I noticed by looking at your gallery that you are very good at realism. Any tips for this timid artist?

Sure. I'll try to give you a few tips, just don't take them as too critical or anything.
1. Study people's heads and hair. Not joking, I'm serious. You did good by making the eyes right at the midpoint between the chin and top of the head, but the way you've drawn the hair at the top of the scalp is awkward.
2. The eye size is fine if you're sticking to the stylized look, but if you want to go into realism, the eyes are proportionally too big for the face.
3. If you want to seriously try realism, my best advice is to start with reference photos. Draw out what you see, and that will teach you how to draw reality. Study the proportions and study the way lines curve.
I'm kinda sounding like a technical Yoda, but yeah, that's my bit of advice.

Don't worry hun~
I have a friend who critics everything to an extreme level so I'm used to being critic'd at
Does it appear that the person has too much hair or too little hair? Because I tried to make his hair have a "Bed Head" style but I guess I failed at that haha~
Smaller? Gotcha
No, I am not going to stick to the styled look because I really do want to draw realistic
Alright! >:]
I shall use reference photos!!
Thank you very much for the advise~!! It means a lot and I like you sounding like a technical Yoda because you go into detail
Again, Thank you very much~!
I shall use your advise right away >w<

I have tried to step into the place you are going with your drawings...The human form , to me at least, is thmost difficult but most rewarding thing to get right.....He is correct about studding the shape and form of a face you wish to draw...And if you really want to get technical start with a picture of an actual scull...learn to draw the shapes of the bone and start to get a feel for how the muscles and skin must fit over that....If you can understand the shape of the scull the facial features will be much more realistc.... But then I was never great at people...Iv always been better with the unrealistic Good luck to you! I still love the drawing and I know you will get better!

I think there's a good amount of hair. I feel like it's not the quality or the quantity of the hair that's the problem, it's the way it's organized it. For a bedhead look, the line for the bangs is far too neat, specifically at the left-hand side. Those bangs also clash with the rest of the hair's messy look. Then the parting of his hair sticks out too much...like, when a real person's hair is parted, the hair doesn't curve in that kind of way unless you're looking down at them from above. Plus, as the hair parted from the left side moves toward the bangs, it just randomly stops. That normally doesn't happen. It makes it look like the left bangs were glued onto his head.
Damn, that was lengthy. I apologize. I hope I was clear, and not too vague. Really, start with the reference photos. Good luck!!!

I actually used to draw anime a long, long time ago. From ages 12 to 14, I was into a anime, so that's all I drew nonstop. Then I began to seriously draw cartoons and realism about 4.5 years ago, and here I am...today.
What I'm saying is, going from stylized drawing to realism is within your reach. It just takes time and practice.
