Not really strictly art, but I thought I would toss this up.

This was the result of a night of tinkering with an old portable color CRT television. With a little wire cutting and swapping, I was able to display the waveform coming from an MP3 player on the screen. This image shows Daft Punk's "Hard Better Faster Stronger".

Later, undocumented experiments led to me isolating the control circuits for each of the three colored electron guns, followed by connecting them to my Arduino and using a hack-n-slash PWM method to mix different amounts of different colors. I was able to reliably display waveforms in 28 different color combinations, but anything beyond that turned all stripy.

I abandoned the project when I was unable to strip the main circuit board enough to fit it into a desktop PC case. I am currently working to replicate it with an even smaller B/W CRT, which I will ultimately mount into 3 of the front drive bays of a custom PC case, with a display controlled by an integrated Arduino.
