To him I am nothingOnly I will fix him food
Wash his clothing
And take his cruel language
“Nothing more than a slave, you be”
He sneers as he slips into his bed
Blowing out the candle
And winking at me in the moonlight
More than any other person in the world
He makes me wary
So wary that indeed I do vomit from the fear
That someday he will come after me
And show no mercy
Because I am nothing more than his slave
Late at night I wait
Hovering in the darkened corner
Too afraid to sleep
Hoping he wont find me here
Maybe this once he’ll leave me be
But no I hear his thundering footsteps
Pounding down the stairs
He searches for me in silence
Or what he thinks is silence
And I know if I run
It will only make the chase more of a game for him
I’ll never make it out alive
He spots me and pulls me away
His grin is rotten
And breath of beer
For once I truly wish I were dead
Maybe this time he’ll kill me
