Wall stands to the right,Blanket hangs off mattress to the left,
Back against box of escape ladder,
Head clamped between knees.
Sliver of red, black, wedged in carpet
Frayed from thoughtless fidgeting,
Has been there, stays there,
Chitin shell torn off, decaying.
Inky white pinhead bulges from sliver,
Thread legs tear through the surface,
Out, grabbing, pulling, scrubbing scissor mandibles,
Weaving across unforgiving frayed carpet.
