OTL That's the last time I leave these missions for the last minute.See you guys two minutes from the next deadline!
Here, Tom attempts to protect a stranger from the wave. Earlier, Seth, Shun, and the few household servants fled by boat (against Shun's will). Seth instructed Tom to stay behind and protect as many of their belongings as he could, especially the contents of Shun's office, which contained important documents that would help their business rebuild, if it came to that. Tom was finishing his work when he spied an old man who had apparently gone about similar business and had found a seat outside to enjoy the sea breeze one last time. With little time to spare, Tom beckoned the old man inside, determined to protect him as far as possible.
But he was sure he'd forgotten something...

GAH that wood grain. Though I figured out a super-simple method of rendering it when I was halfway done with the first crate-- I just lightly slap down splotches in two different shades of brown, burnish over that with a cream color, and freehand some knots and squiggly lines on top. It might've looked nicer if I had kept a very sharp point on the pencil that I used to make the top lines, but I'm always so conscious about wasting my materials 8'D
And hhnnggg what's in that box? I'm thinking that Tom was able to save all the stuff related to Shun's trading business, but all the notes and stuff from when she made Tom and Seth were tucked away so securely that Tom had to struggle a bit to get them into the crate, which is why he left them for last.
I'm working on another sketch with the old man, too >w< Heck, he might become a recurring character.
