Description Rama Rides Hanuman (completed)

Hanuman asks Lord Rama to ride on his back and confront Ravana in the battlefield
This scene occurs in Yuddha Kanda chapter 59, verse 124&125 of the Valmiki Ramayana.

If you’re wondering how Hanuman can bleed or get injured. There are several incidents where he gets severely wounded.

For example:
In Yuddha Kanda chapter 67, verse 19, 20 and 21
Kumbhakarna strikes Hanuman's chest with his spear making him vomit blood and fall unconscious.

Rama’s attire:

Contrary to popular belief, in the Valmiki Ramayana, Rama was not wearing saffron colored robes while living in the jungle.
He was wearing clothes made out of tree bark and the material is known as bark-cloth.
Rama was also wearing the skin of a black antelope; he used to hunt beasts while living in the jungle for both food and clothing as it is recorded in Ayodhya Kanda chapter 52 and 56 of the Valmiki Ramayana.

He slays fives beasts for food in the ayodhya kanda chapter 52 and 56 they are :

Varaha - wild boar
Rishya - white footed antelope
Prisata - spotted deer
Maharurur - an unknown species of deer
and Black antelope

Rama was wearing gloves fashioned out of the skin of an iguana(a reptile) to protect his fingers while performing archery. These gloves were known as “gaudheya anguli traanu” in sanskrit.

Rama was very muscular as it is recorded in the Ramayana.

He had numerous battle scars all over his body.

He made dreadlocks (matted hair) for him-self with the help of the sap from a banyan tree along with his brother Lakshmana and Nishadha king Guha.

This is from the Ramayana, one of the most famous epics of ancient India.

It is the story of Rama, the avatar (reincarnation) of Lord Vishnu (one of the Holy Trinity of the Hindu pantheon of Gods). (Vishnu is the 'Preserver', and he is said born in every era during a time of great crisis, to save humanity).

The scene depicted above is probably from one of the final battles during the war between Rama (Hanuman is Rama's self-proclaimed bodyguard and most loyal follower; himself an supernatural god in his own right), as he and his ardent followers battle it out against the vast army of Asuras (demons) led by Ravana, the greatest king of the Asuras.

Ravana is the most famous of Asuras, a great scholar, and a fierce warrior. He vanquished all the lesser Gods (including Lord Indra, the King of Heaven), usurped the Heaven, and made life miserable for the Gods, until the Gods beseeched the Holy Trinity to help them, and then  Vishnu was born as Rama to vanquish Ravana. (In the Hindu mythology, the Asuras are the antithesis of the Gods; there's always a war happening somewhere between these 2 groups as they strive to claim control over Heaven, Earth and other important universes).

Hanuman is the foremost champion of the monkey-men, called 'vaanar'. These vanaar's are perhaps the earliest known recorded references of prehistoric humankind.

Hanuman is the son of Vayu (the Wind god); hence he can fly and he has supernatural strength and agility! He is also considered to be a reincarnation of Lord Shiva (the 'Destroyer', the last of the 'Holy Trinity').

The primary reason for Rama to fight Ravana was because Rama kidnapped Sita, the wife of Rama, and there was a mighty war to rescue Sita and defeat Ravana. Yet Ravana, despite his asura tendencies does not hurt or harm Sita, and he vainly tries to get her to agree to marry him, threatening to wipe out Rama and his kingdom if she did not agree. When she is finally rescued from Ravana's clutches by Rama, his brother Lakshmana and their monkey-men troops, and they all return in victorious style to their kingdom, it turns out that Rama, the perfect gentleman, gets suspicious of his wife's 'purity' and disowns her. In distress, she undergoes a 'trial by fire' (literally) to prove her innocence, but he is still not convinced. She finally goes into hiding and self-imposed exile, and in the forest 'ashram', she begets a pair of twin boys (Rama's sons) who later defeat all of Rama's mighty troops and when he finally turns up and tries to destroy them, Sita intervenes and reveals that they are his own sons. Her life arc coming to an end, she hands over the boys to him, and then returns to womb of the Mother Earth (she was the daughter of the Earth Goddess; think of her as the daughter of Gaiea, in Western mythology), leaving Rama crying and begging for her to forgive him and return back to them, but what's done cannot be undone, and thus the epic story of Ramayana draws to a primary close (followed later by other secondary story arcs).

Lord Brahma, the 'Creator', is the first God from the Holy Trinity; all 3 Gods together signify the endless cycle of creation, sustenance and destruction for all living and non-living aspects of all universes. All other Gods (and even Asuras) defer to these 3 super-gods (if that makes sense).

Like I said above, this painting is phenomenal, as it conveys a thrilling scene from this epic story!

vee-kay : this is one of the most easy to read shortened version of the epic. Which also explains the primary epic quite nicely. Awesome answer.

Sometimes the lines between fact and fiction, myth and mystery, begin to blur.

TRIVIA TIDBIT:

Legend has it that the Asura Emperor Ravana's impregnable island nation, called Lanka, is today's modern-day Sri Lanka.

And when the tiny army of Rama and his whacky cohorts (monkey-men, bear-men, etc.), after a lot of traipsing and trundling across thick and dangerous jungles of Ancient India, arrived at the seashore, they could not figure out how to cross over to the unassailable island they knew to be Ravana's kingdom.

Someone finally realised they had a God with them, and all they had to do was to chant His name.

So the vaanar troops collected boulders and rocks, then scribbled Shri Ram (Respected Rama) with limestone chalk on each rock and threw them into the sea. Miracle of miracles, those rocks floated! Pretty soon, there began to take shape a veritable bridge of boulders, bobbing in the treacherous sea. As the army clambered onto the floating bridge, they carried and threw more rocks, extending it all the way to fortress island of Ravana.

This miraculous phenomenon became the legendary Ramar Sethu (Rama's Bridge).

And here's the kicker.. an interesting tidbit, guaranteed to pique everyone's interest.

A few years ago, the actual Rama's Bridge was discovered by a NASA satellite.

A unique, definitely unnatural, now-undersea rock-and-sand bridge, linking modern India and Sri Lanka!

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rama_set…

Trivia for the Indian fans:
The person who is said to have suggested the idea for this floating bridge to Rama's army, was none other than the famous King Nala, of the 'Nala and Damayanti' fame (it is an ancient romantic story, very popular as a bedtime story for young kids in rural India).

In the magical world of FantasyRama, Elves, fairies, and mystical creatures coexist under the protection of the mighty trees of life. The perfect dream land, however, is at the risk of destruction and therefore, is badly in need of a hero or heroine who can rise to the occasion to save the world and restore peace.for more information regarding it, please check here

i am actually a bit doubtful about that story.. cuz vishnu him-self is the great grand son of lord brahma.

According Vishnu Purana lord Brahma was born from the navel of the Lord Vishnu in a lotus flower & Narada muni is the son of Lord Brahma so only Narada muni always chants his grand father name.

srry, i don't go by vishnu purana.. i go by vedas and scriptures which are not written by one-sided people like vaishnavas, shaivas and shaktas.. i accept only that which is in compliance with all other texts like vedas, ramayana, mahabharata etc.
i never give supremacy to one particular form of god
