Description Last night, I was trying to rescue a spider from the bath, and it ran up my sleeve {aghhh!}. Which led me to create this piece of horror.

BTW, I managed to retrieve the spider and free it. They are our little helpers afterall, but not in this image

The spiders were generated with Poser 7. The girl is the model, Alison, and all the elements were put together using photoshop.

I quite like the themes which mimick nature but are horrific when applied to people: parasitic wasps, for example, paralyse insects, lay eggs in them, and the infant wasp devours the living insect on its way out!

Great combination of work to put it together, which also mimics the thoughts, horrors faced by people with such fears, spiders are not mine but love the way you use them here

This is a great picture. There is a mixture of intimacy, sex, live, and death, all in the same shot. The spider is apparently calmly sucking the blood out of the girls stomach under the girls dress. They have a shared intimacy as one stays alive with the others blood and the host is slowly giving her lifeblood away for the other. This is great horror and beauty.

I once moved house because of spiders, I used to get so freaked out by them. But I learnt something that made me no longer repulsed by them. Here's what you do...

Next time you see a big one trapped in your bath tub, don't kill it. It's probably been trapped in there for hours trying in vain to climb up those slippery walls. Gently approach the tip of of of its legs with your index finger and as ligt as you can, just touch it. You wwill jump back but it will go ballastic - full of fear. Do this a few times and you will find it reacts less and less. At this point, you can try and lift its back legs, gently wit the side of your hand. Do it a few times until it realises it can put its front legs on the side of the bath, and very gently keep raising your hand. By the time you get to the top, it wont want to leave your hand. Somehow, it know you are benevolent and it no longer fears you. Go to the window, opem it, and put it on the window sill and close the window,

What's the point, you ask?

One day, when humankind meets aliens, it will be like this, but one act of showing life needs life, can change the universe in time.

Nature is very horrorific and right in the prettiest little garden or dark corner of one's basement. It's easy not to think about it until you put a human, especially a lovely woman into the situation. You do this un-nervingly well.

I like your work, molsmith. I'm quite a fan of those scenes.

There is something that disturbs me, although the quality is good:

there are just too many spiders around there, and the big on the left is really too much. I'd lay the model on the ground, maybe undress her partially - if she likes that - and use the spider thats now on her head for some interesting work on other body parts. That spider has the right size and all. You could maybe add some of the smaller ones too, but really in the background.

I'd love that, molsmith

But inadvertently, they are our little helpers. i f not for spiders, the number of flies from just 1 pair in a single season, would cover the whole of india 27 feet deep.

Spiders and the things Hoover and Dyson would love to create and charge you hundreds of dollars. They clear all grubs, larvae, eggs, and other pests from your home. They ask for nothing in return, but tolerance. They do not spread disease, they are poisonous but so few of then can actually bite you, and they find you as repulsive as you find them.

So - overcome your irrational fear and emotional repulsion and learn to love these little helpers.

I once moved house because of spiders, but hey... I worked on it and I can pick up big ones now. They are our friends. Without them, the world would have drowned in flys, eons ago
