Description
Taxxons! One of the main fighting forces of the Yeerk Empire, able to swim, burrow, track prey, and fly ships, although they're quite fragile and are constantly hungry.Their constant hunger may have been an evolutionary advantage, allowing them to eat any food source at any moment they came across it on their barren world. It's largely a disadvantage, though, as they'll eat ANYTHING injured even slightly, even if the injured is itself!
Taxxons are apparently lead by a "living hive" (something like a huge heart, complete with veiny tubes that can be used for high-speed travel), which seems to be hinted at being 'built' on Earth in one of the various nightmare futures in the series.
BOOK: various - Animorphs #53 - The Answer and The Andalite Chronicles give perhaps the best look
-----
Animorphs and all related characters belong to K.A. Applegate

They have, I think, among the most merciful ending of any singular race in the series...

Gah and I thought the Yeerks had it bad. Not being able to really move. The Taxxons though, they no self control over what they eat, or how often. I felt bad for them in a way 'cause of that. Still a deadly force not just 'cause of their eating habits. Well done with the anatomy on this piece!

Wow.So freaking awesome.
I've never been able to decide what to do if I came across one. Try to feed it so it wouldn't eat me or run the heck away and hope for the best?

So gross and sad. The Taxxons are awesome, and this is a lovely picture. Very...scuttle-y.

Yoooooou super captured how disgusting and jellyish those poor Taxxons are supposed to look. I also think the eyes were supposed to be on stalks, but fudge it, this is bitchin. Blaugh.

I like how you made its upper legs pretty much the same as its lower ones, instead of suddenly turning into lobster claws like in the official illustrations.

As art, very well drawn, but I don't know, something about the eyes doesn't look right, I honestly think they're supposed to be on stalks, but the "red jelly eggs" are dead on, I like the rendidions of the legs and claws, the body seems a little more crunchy than squishy, but that's just me, great job

Oh man I loved this series. What is this nightmare future you speak of? Separate books from the main 50 or so books or a part of the main series?

It was in one of the main series books, I think the 7th or so book where they first meet the Ellimist.

Man, this is great. The taxxons are all kinds of freaky. Applegate knew how to design alien races. But I'll say that you're better at drawing these aliens than anybody else I've seen.

Thank god. What a good, solid design. This looks like a more believable taxxon than some of the official Animorphs art I've seen!

I like your illustration better than the book illustrator's. The cover art version had a way smaller mouth, which made no sense, since in the 13th book it was said that a Taxxon swallowed a bobcat whole.
