Its so dang gorgeous, but all I can imagine is how weird it must have been to have all of that dry grass rubbing ticklishly and uncomfortably on the legs and butt. :s That stuff feels funky, yo.

Hey, lovely picture, I LOVE the use of a 'limited pallette' as they say in paint speak, and I like the focus and toning too. Just one thing; because of your use of limited pallete, I think it could make it really beautiful if you could make the hair on the model quite long, and perhaps draping it across the body and over the breasts? I think that this could tie in the model in with her surrounding enviroment quite nicely, paticularly with her hair being red

Visually this piece is gorgeous and not just because the model is a cutie, though she definitely is, which is not something I can often say about a nude... even a DD nude. I love this setting. I love these colors and how they match and or resonate with the colors of the model (yes I am making terminology up to explain how I feel. Me NOT photographer).
Theme wise I'm not really sure what its trying to say though. Browning grass (nature), decaying train (man made world), beautiful woman still WELL within the bloom period of life... contrast of some kind maybe?

Wow, what a sucky thing to say. If you have any concerns with what I'm featuring, address them to me personally rather than leaving such rude petty comments.

petty?
JohnnyCopperboots 5 hours ago left:
"Naked girls without rusty stuff are nice too... For some reason...
i was not dishonest (nor was this member seemingly)
and how more direct could i be? a note perhaps? it would be the same really, the difference is it's viewed by public
and if so, does this differ in any way from what i see daily anywhere?
what value does this have?
it's common and uninspired
plain and simply, anyone can do what ever it is the photographer did with a similar effect
especially when resorting to sex appeal for sex appeal's sake
therefore, a cheap way to gain views
i'm not insulting you am i?
or your body, or the decaying building next to you or the picture in general
i'm just not satisfied with the overused idea of the one who is responsible for the picture and it's upload
so really as much as you share concern with my approval
this comment isn't directed at you

Yeh, petty. "Congrats, but...this sucks" Petty. Classless. Immature.
You're welcome to not like this sort of work. But seeing as there is nothing they could possibly do to make it "better" in your eyes, it's -rude- to leave a comment. You're allowed, sure. But why bother? Go look at, and encourage, work you do enjoy instead.

So do you have a link to an artistic nude in a rural setting like this that you feel shows the photographer made an effort worthy of a DD? Or are you saying that categories involving nudity shouldn't get DD's period or perhaps even exist?
On the subject above. Yes you were talking to Nyx-Valentine because they chose to make this a DD not the photographer or model. And your original comment appeared to be addressing how this piece became a DD which is Nyx-Valentine's work.
And whilst I'm not sure I entirely agree with it I think I ran accross a DA policy rule that was against such statements (those opposed to it being a DD ) being posted on the piece itself. help.deviantart.com/873/
None of this is me saying you are wrong for feeling the way you do or even voicing it. Though maybe the DD part of it needs to be addressed directly to those responsible. Other than the DD aspect of it, I personally don't see why a person shouldn't be able to voice a negative criticism about a piece when the comments are open as long as it is constructive/useful negative criticism. Feedback is feedback.

I never comment on actual negative criticism, honestly, no matter how much I disagree with it. If it's something constructive and useful, it's not my place to monitor. But comments like the original one here are absolutely against policy, and just generally sucky things to say

Omnivoyance In reply to Nyx-Valentine [2013-11-21 05:25:22 +0000 UTC]
Yes, I linked the policy to them myself. I guess I was hoping to reword things in a way that they might be willing to, at least partially, absorb. Baby steps and all that.
Your choice of words to them, while correct, and furthermore deserved, are provocative. Not that I wouldn't be inspired to do the same in your place.
Worth a shot anyway. *shrugs*

In my opinion, leaving comments like this on another artist's page is just plain classless. Art is subjective. What one person likes, another person may not. Congratulate the person on their DD and then be on your way, or say nothing at all. There is no need to leave rude or hurtful comments on someone's page, especially if it will put a damper on such an exciting thing for an artist like getting a DD.

This is a very tasteful photograph, with thoughtful composition and lighting, celebrating the female body. If you don't like it don't look and if you do look don't comment on it. Please keep completely negative comments to yourself.

Ive no idea how this is possibly porn, but I recommend you make use of your mature content filter instead of looking at things you don't like.
FAQ #93: How does the Mature Content option work?
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
PlagueJester In reply to Nyx-Valentine [2013-11-20 19:06:08 +0000 UTC]
The problem with the mature content filter is that it doesn't let you choose what you want to stop seeing. They really need to improve that.

MissManz In reply to PlagueJester [2013-11-20 19:31:43 +0000 UTC]
I agree with you. The mature content filter has to be improved. I told that to an admin a while back, but they did nothing with it.
👍: 0 ⏩: 0
Nyx-Valentine In reply to PlagueJester [2013-11-20 19:25:51 +0000 UTC]
Its certainly a better choice for this person though, as it does tell you what the content is that is being filtered.
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
PlagueJester In reply to Nyx-Valentine [2013-11-21 21:03:28 +0000 UTC]
Not true!
You see, I once turned the content filter because I was sick of seeing pornography. When you're on the front page, it doesn't hide things from you and tell you what they are. It removes them. Entirely. The only way to arrive at something that's filtered is to actively look for it.
So, I turn it on because I don't want to see porn.
It removes, entirely, my ability to find horror art on the front page.
They need to make it so that you can choose to hide certain categories.
Example... I'd hide "artistic nudes" (less than 5% of that category is even mildly "artistic") and "anthro" (MLP and furry porn). That would get rid of porn. Turning the filter on gets rid of EVERYTHING.

Nyx-Valentine In reply to PlagueJester [2013-11-21 21:24:23 +0000 UTC]
Then I recommend the choice of maturity - "Oh, I didn't want to see that. *clicks back button*." Life is much easier that way.
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
PlagueJester In reply to Nyx-Valentine [2013-11-21 21:28:42 +0000 UTC]
This I can agree with. To an extent.
This site has so much porn on it that it becomes frustrating, especially with the number of DDs that are blatantly pornographic. This piece isn't a great example of my point. While the nudity doesn't add anything to the picture except a naked woman (which Playboy (NOT AN ART MAGAZINE) does all of the time without producing any art) it isn't as bad as most that win DDs.

Nyx-Valentine In reply to PlagueJester [2013-11-21 21:32:07 +0000 UTC]
Uh, as the person who has been featuring art nudes and fetish for the past....while, I can assure you, I do not feature pornography. But really, be mature, if you don't like it, click back, and go look at something you enjoy instead. This isn't hurting you in any way, beyond your self inflicted inability to move on.
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
PlagueJester In reply to Nyx-Valentine [2013-11-21 21:34:45 +0000 UTC]
I like how you say you've been featuring porn for a while, and then try to assure me that you do not feature pornography.
Nice.
And you really seem stuck on the "click back" option while ignoring my entire last post. So, since you will ignore (instead of countering) that direction, let me try a direction I know you enjoy.
If you don't like someone's comment, why don't you just click back and go look at comments you enjoy instead? This isn't hurting you in any way, beyond your self inflicted inability to move on.

Nyx-Valentine In reply to PlagueJester [2013-11-21 21:37:17 +0000 UTC]
Sigh. I don't feature porn. You've been offered several options, beyond leaving rude, obnoxious comments. You are unable to follow them. I recommend not posting further on art nude or fetish images, or perhaps you might find artists reporting you for harassment.
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
PlagueJester In reply to Nyx-Valentine [2013-11-21 21:40:50 +0000 UTC]
I actually didn't comment on their art.
You don't even realize who you're talking to, do you?
I was explaining to you why your initial idea that SOMEONE OTHER THAN ME couldn't use the mature filter (it doesn't work properly). And then explained why THEY (notice how it's still a pronoun for someone that isn't me?) might feel a need to leave a comment.
I also like how you are ignoring my last post as well. Also, posting a comment that shows you dislike someone's upload isn't "harassment". Excellent try though. Well, except for it being a terrible attempt. Okay, terrible try. But at least you tried, right? No... No blue ribbons for participating from me. Sorry.
And you stated quite specifically that you feature porn. Make up your mind.
