Celebrate the art of Hayao Miyazaki and the North American theatrical release of his last film, "The Wind Rises" by creating a very special Tribute to the film's art. Your Tribute will be used to promote the release of "The Wind Rises" on DeviantART. We ask that you combine elements from the images provided in the Asset Pack with your own inspiration to build your Tribute artwork. "The Wind Rises" tells the story of one of Japan's most important aviation engineers against the backdrop of the major events of the 20th century. Critics have been overwhelmed by the artistry in this final masterwork from the brilliant animator and storyteller, Hayao Miyazaki. This is your opportunity to enter into his world and recast its elements into a final Tribute. The three winning entries will be used on deviantART to promote the film's release. Each winning artwork will be made into a framed presentation print sent to Studio Ghibli in Japan. Contest Ends Contest Closed Step 1: Learn About "The Wind Rises" View the trailer for "The Wind Rises" and read the synopsis for the film. Then download and review the Asset Pack. Step 2: Make Your Tribute Compose your Tribute to the film by using the images in the Asset Pack and/or your own inspiration from viewing the trailer and reading the synopsis. You may use elements from the images provided or reproduce the images themselves using any drawing, painting or digital medium other than photography. No stock. Please limit the Tribute to only "The Wind Rises" and do not use elements from any of Hayao Miyazaki's other films. Step 3: Submit Your Tribute Submit your Tribute using the button below. Your Tribute must be approximately 2,000 pixels in width and 550 pixels in height at a minimum of 72 dpi and be either a single .JPG or .PNG file. Sorry, no .GIFs or other moving images. After graduating from Gakushuin University in 1963 with a degree in political science and economics, he joined Toei Animation Company as an animator. He worked under the director Isao Takahata for scene planning and key animation for the production of "The Little Norse Prince Valiant" (1968). He then moved to the animation studio A Production with Takahata in 1971 where he worked on the original concept, screenplay, layout design and key animation for "Panda! Go Panda!" (1972). He worked at various studios such as Zuiyo Eizo, Nippon Animation and Telecom, and did scene planning and layout designs for the TV series "Heidi, A Girl of the Alps" (1974) and "From the Apennines to the Andes" (1976), and directed his first TV series "Conan, the Boy in Future" (1978). He debuted as director of a theatrical feature with "The Castle of Cagliostro" (1979). In 1984, Miyazaki wrote and directed his feature "Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind," based on his original graphic novel which had been serialized in the monthly animation magazine "Animage." Miyazaki co-founded Studio Ghibli in 1985 with Takahata, and has directed eight feature films since. His film "Spirited Away" (2001) broke every box-office record in Japan, and garnered many awards, including the Golden Bear at the 2002 Berlin International Film Festival and the Oscar® for Best Animated Feature Film at the 2003 U.S. Academy Awards, and "Howl's Moving Castle" (2004) received the Osella Award at the 2004 Venice International Film Festival. He also contributed to the planning and wrote the screenplay for the Ghibli's newest films "The Secret World of Arrietty" (2010) and "From Up on Poppy Hill" (2011). Miyazaki's "The Wind Rises" was released on July 20, 2013 in Japan. Dang.. I've always been such a huge fan of Hayao Miyazaki and Studio Ghibli; I even new about this movie long before this post, but sadly I do not fit the age limit that is required to participate.

Woah, this was a surprise!!
But I wasn't expecting 18 age requirement here, but the most surprising part was Quebec. 2 times Ouch for me. Madoka is in our cinemas, why can't this masterpiece be too. D:
I saw the movie in Japan, it was truly amazing, sometimes cheerful but sadly devastating in the end. I froze for few hours after seeing it. Good luck to everyone!!
It's a truly fantastic movie, I recommend it to anyone who hasn't watched it yet.

The movie should still show in Quebec, you just can't enter the contest if you live there because of the laws surrounding such contests.

Hello Ms. Moonbeam13, I've just entered my entry into the contest using the appropriate categories for the contest, but when I browse for the other entries I don't see mine with them. Is there any specific key words I'm suppose to set it to or will it take time for my entry to appear with the other entries?
I just want to check if I entered my entry correctly in the contest.

Apparently though, they need to consider the laws in the different countries - and what sort of government policies would affect it's contestants, never really thought about countries with restrictive internet transactions and content censoring.
Really though, some art & images from a 3rd world country might seem harmless to use - but flagrantly anti-whatever to some bureaucrat controlling part of their government!
It just doesn't seem fair to the rest of us that want to see art from other parts of the world!
