Summary:
Garen looked into the distance. His muscles were tense and his whole body shivered.
Many wolves managed to come back to this sacred land, but so many were still missing. Garen's shining amber eyes wandered along the reddish horizon. But he couldn't find a glimpse of a moving shadow.
Where was his mother and why didn't she come back?
His father was still lost, too. So many Counts were missing, like Faon and Caltha. Where were they? His rival Gudrun wasn't here, either. Garen didn't want to admit it, but he missed even her mean face.
The big grumpy wolf felt lost considering the truth that he might never see all of them ever again. His stomach turned and with a sad sigh, he looked at his paws.
Waiting here and staring in the distance for days didn't help the Volaires. He had to be strong! Somehow Garen had to function and move on even without his family. But how should he continue? Why should he live and fight without his mother?
Full of despair he looked again in the distance.
Wait wasn't there something moving?
His eyes grew wider as he could see a familiar shadow in the distance: Gudrun was approaching
Of course, Garen said multiple times to himself that he didn't miss her, but he couldn't stop the small growing smile on his face.
