Description This was made based off the pattern in the book by Boutique Sha-Sha. I've had it for a while now, I decided to put it on dA in response to all the others I've seen xD.

I generally make my works with old flyers and homework assignments but I sometimes use origami paper, wrapping paper, etc. I generally try to reuse old papers, but I will use 'new' papers too. The size of the pieces I use is about half the size of the 'standard' size (as prescribed by the instruction book). I do so to save paper, and since I do, I can make use of more scraps and such.

I birthday parties for this reason xD.

lol, that's awesome. I have a tough enough time doing regular old origami cranes let alone this.

It's actually simpler than it looks. It comprises of making these little triangle units (pretty easy to fold, though time consuming, cuz you need lots of them) then just putting them together. Also, practice makes perfect ^_~
It's okay to have a couple that you're not entirely proud of.

A great book/books is 3D Origami by Boutique Sha Sha <[link] > (and the rest of the books in this series, for anyone who wants them; there's tons in China, though I never bought any [yes, I regret that])
