Description
OK, so I looked over the rules for nudity and it turns out this and the Dyaus study both deserve mature content labels, so there, I hope you're happy DA admins, ya bunch of prudes! XPSo anyway, another example of me thinking about a videogame way too much. So I based a lot of this on the fact that Varna = Hindu god of the ocean, so I gave him a lot of fish features like scales and shark's teeth. Also I noticed I'm starting a pattern here, since none of the main character's demons have eyes, I assume they can't see light like humans can. Well dammit, they're the ultimate predators, why the hell are they blind?! But then I thought, wait, what if sight was replaced by another sense unique to each demon. Then I figured it would be cool if each had a sense based off their elemental affinities, so Dyaus, being a n electric elemental, gets electro-sensory organs, and Varna, being an ice elemental, gets heat (or infrared) sensing organs.
And those two weird little openings (well, they look like openings to me) on each side of Varna's throat have always bugged me, seriously, what are they?! The only plausible thing I could come up with is that they're gills of some sort, y'know the whole god of the ocean thing...it'd make a lot of sense if he could breathe underwater.
Varna c) Atlus, oh you crazy Japanese and your crazy cannibalistic demons lol
EDIT: ok, for some reason this won't show up in my gallery, and it hasn't all day, so I deleted it and reuploaded it, hopefully this'll work.

you probably already know this trivia bit, but my favorite little trivia about the dds monsters is that their hands canonically have the texture of paw pads... Anyways, i adore your little anatomy studies <3Β
also, since you mention eyes...Β

The detailing to this is quite impressive. Not only in anatomical knowledge but physiology as well. I agree with the who lack of eyes in replacement of a special extra sensory perceptive system as well as the forementioned symbolic factor.
Regardless the artwork is freaking awesome.

Awesome! You actually make sense out of the awkward look that the character designer for DDS gave them, giving a detailed study like a scientist would do for an animal, like Kiva said.

Whoa, this is incrediably well thought out and done in great detail! Kinda like those anotamy books you get on animals.

Lack of eyes may have been as symbolic gesture on the designers part. As a demon they are beasts, souless killing machines, eyes being the windows to the soul so no soul equaling no eyes. Or that's the cooky thought I had.
Then again this isn't something all demons/atmas in the game have, but the main important ones seem to follow that idea.
Keep these things going and when you finish with the main chars perhaps we can see some of the bosses mayhap in a similar char sheet/breakdown?

hmm yeah, the symbolism behind the eyelessness does make sense, but I always wondered how it worked on a physiological basis, since most top land predators in real life have pretty sharp vision...
unfortunately I only have studies drawn up for Dyaus, Varna and Vayu. I started in on Agni but then my art ADD kicked in and I kinda ran out of ideas. But who knows, I might do more of these someday ^^
