I agree.. it's weird to see an absolutely stunning painting, better quality than most crap on dA, and say "don't spend too much time on one painting." What? That's where true quality and dedication shine through.

This is a great picture! I just can't help but wonder though. Does holding the reins really seem like it would work if the dragon wanted to run off, lol ^_^.

Other than some of the reflections in the water (which don't seem to line up quite correctly), I think this is a really good piece of artwork. Nice use of light and shadow, and you've got a good understanding of contrast, depth and perspective.
Unlike a lot of pictures around here, yours also seems to indicate an ongoing tale, rather than just a single hero pose or action shot. Good work.

I love the piece, I like the demeanor between the rider and his dragon; fierce but calm, while, not far off other riders can be see in the distance. I admire the atmosphere, I find it quite powerful.
I do not agree with Ethereal---dawn's comment: The dragons-how you drew them-in contrast with the riders are not 'in the distance' as much as he/she said. They look as if they are coming towards the rider. The towns look as if they are more far away, probably a few miles apart... I am seeing a 3-dimensional area: your rider is up close being the first area. The second dragon is maybe a mile out, the next the same from him, and the last, looks as if he is higher than all of them, gliding softly in a cloudier area. Correct me if I am wrong.
Overall: I am a fan of dragons, and I love it.

Amazing detail and lighting, the dragon looks very fierce. Though comparing the size of the dragons in the sky to the towns below, they seem like either huge dragons or very small towns... And if the dragons are very big, then the one the man is holding seems out of proportion. Just my thoughts, I don't really know much. Very nice piece, though; especially if it's only conceptual.
