I know I'm like a year late, but Pacific Rim and Evangelion are so similar (in a good way) I'm so glad I found this.

meh ... jeagers .. evas ... combots (metal fatigue for the uninformed)
all pale compared to the sheer power that is a fully ubgraded cybran armored command unit (supreme commander)
if it just had a propper disintegrationgun from total annihilation ... almost nothing could stop it .. .. .. at least on ranged battle ..
you want a giant robot that kicks alien- and robot- or alienrobotass ?
MEGAS XLR xD

ACUs always came across as more of a walking tank than a mech. Although that maser is scary as hell, an eva would instantly dismantle it if they got close.

if a eva realy had to fight an ACU it would not be the ACU alone .. i can imagine that due to the mobility an EVA it would have an advantage 1v1
but the acu offen comes along with n entire selfbuild army of tanks, bots, assualtmechs, aircraft and towering experimentals
an EVA is "just" a combat unit
an ACU is a tool in order to invade an entire planet without the need of a starfleet
also if an eva got close to an ACU it would get an overcharge to the face ..
personaly i like the "walking tank" depiction of mechs (such as battletech/mechwarrior or front mission) more then the gundamΒ - superagile superslick style ...

No matter how many tanks, bots, assaultmechs, aircraft and towering experiments you use, one Evangelion using it Absolute Terror Field to stop them and just rip them to little iddy biddy pieces.

And what makes you guys think it's going to get close to the ACU? XD
Between the Microwave Laser, the Molecular Ripper, and the reclamation beam (not to mention construction abilities), a fully upgraded Cybran ACU is damn near unbeatable at this level. Add fully upgraded cloaking and its damn invisible to the naked eye....

You realize the EVA's are less than half of Gipsy Danger's size, and Gipsy isn't even the biggest Jaeger?

You do realize that your argument is invalid since your trying to talk statistics. The actual makers of the Evangelion stated the real height of an Eva is 40-200..... The stated it's a fucking range.Β

HA! that's funny cause Before the credits were even done rolling my friend leaned over and told me "That's probably the closest we'll ever see to an Evangelion movie." lol
That wouldn't bother me too much though, just because it was a REALLY good movie..

I mentioned to my roomie that I thought it was close to a live-action Godannar movie, minus the completely in-your-face, over-the-top fan-service.

Even though I loved the heck out of Pacific Rim, I feel like I have to defend the Eva here. There is something wrong about the data sheet on the article linked down somewhere in the comments, because last I checked (1 minute ago), Evas are 80 meters tall, the same size as the Jaegers: "Based on production sketches from Evangelion 1.0 Complete Records Collection, the Evas are 80 meters tall." -Online sources

That series is known to have inconsistencies with regards to Eva scaling. Sometimes they were as tall as skyscrapers and then at times they were much shorter than the buildings around them. Some of these sketches I have found online had them numbered at 42.5m! Thus, making it all up to debate among the fans, the creators and even former people who used to work on the franchise. Pacfic Rim, so far has no inconsistencies to even mention about.
Don't let this statement of mine sound harsh. I respect the NGE series, wholeheartedly! In fact, I was glad that they made the films lately. I'm just telling you what info I was able to uncover online.

I like to imagine that when mechas have to team up they all grow to be the same height. All problems solved. Now to just make Shinji less of a pussy.

Thank you very much for replying. I understand and respect your statement above, and that you shared the information you found. And I also am glad how they're making movies such as Pacific Rim lately! The West can finally experience the awesomeness of mecha has that only us otakus could experience.

That is just cutting the Evas' short! Both the Jaegers and Evas were rated at around 80 meters tall, give or take, last I read.
