Rachel had never imagined that she’d spend three thousand dollars on a pair of heels, before. But these were not ordinary heels. They were constructed of titanium and a magnesium alloy, and then, of course, wrapped in a layer of patent leather. Nor did Rachel ever think that she’d spend five hundred dollars on a bra, or three hundred on a blouse. And these were supposedly the best prices for HERS women’s apparel in a two hundred mile radius. Everything for HERS women, it turned out, was made to fit. Especially in Rachel’s case, whose breasts were so large that they tended to make people nervous when she bent down to grab something, to talk to someone, or to simply fit through a doorway. And when the tailor remarked that Rachel might have had the largest breasts in the world, Rachel never expected her chest to swell with a certain pride. But it was also a slightly foolish thing to say. I MIGHT have the largest breasts in the world? If someone has larger breasts than me, I’d like to meet them, Rachel thought.

At first, Rachel didn’t know where these feelings were coming from. She’d always been self-conscious of her chest, hiding it beneath clever bras and tops with conservative necklines. But these were simply not possible to hide. They were too huge, too incredibly full and round and imposing to be concealed beneath a layer of fabric. Bras made only the slightest dent in their shape, and whatever tops the tailor made for her only accentuated their girth and somehow made them look even larger. And, while Rachel could hardly explain it to herself, the impossibility of reducing, minimizing, or in any way concealing her new figure only made her feel more proud. At five foot six, an H cup chest was a liability, always attracting the wrong kind of attention from the wrong kind of people, and sending the wrong messages. But at ten foot two, breasts larger than a grown man’s torso sent a very different kind of message, and that message was reflected on the faces that stared up at her as Rachel walked down the street to the studio, faces that were filled with fear, awe, and admiration.

It seemed that Rachel could hardly go anywhere these days without needing to squeeze her body through doorways that seemed to grow narrower and smaller by the day, and her workplace was no exception. She’d dismissed the possibility of using elevator immediately, worried that it wouldn’t tolerate her immense weight. So she found herself climbing the stairs, her new heels cracking down on the concrete and echoing throughout the stairwell in a heavy, rhythmic pattern, until she finally reached her floor. She bent down, forcing her breasts through the entrance, then unfolded herself to her full standing height, and surveyed her coworkers as though for the first time.

“Hello, all,” Rachel called, certain that she would be easily heard even through the closed doors to the various meeting rooms and offices throughout the floor. “I’m happy to say that I’ve made a full recovery.”

Heather, the receptionist, seemed unable to do anything but gawp at her, her mouth hanging open as she slowly backed away from Rachel and pressed herself against the desk.

“Oh, Tom, is that you down there,” Rachel asked, playfully. Tom seemed to be using his office door as a kind of shield. “It’s so nice of you to welcome me back. I’m sure you managed the news desk just fine without me, but I’ve done some thinking since I’ve been gone, and I have a few changes in mind for the program. I have a whole new angle for the show that viewers are just going to love,” Rachel said, smiling broadly.
