Quasimodo and Esmeralda went with magic instead of dancing.Though I am sure she wanted to have Quasi as her lovely assistant, he would refuse to be on stage, shy as he is, and he knows his parents wouldn't approve. So they recruited a guy who just don't know how to say "No". Herc makes for one pretty and wonderful assistant and he as no problems being on stage or looking lovely. He is just a great guy. Not to mention a little harmless gender expectation subversion tickles both me and Esme. XD
Quasi assist off stage and that is just as important when it comes to magic illusion.
I think Zeus isn't as tickled as me and Esme though. Not to mention that Herc doesn't star in his own show... other's clearly love it!

I am trying really hard to think of a way around that as it was horrible in the movie and would actually be even more so here in this AU. More relatable for some and too real for most and the age difference is even greater....

As much as I like that part in the movie (because they went that far and because it adds how much of a *censored* Frollo is and because I love the original book -at least Disney didn't butcher it to the extend they did with Greek Mythology in Hercules-) I think it would be not only complicated in this AU but also way worse (as if sexual harassment and obsession wasn't already) I think that is one of the reasons why Esmeralda is older in the Disney movie than in the book. At least she seems to be of age (I'd say 20 or 22) while in the book she was like, 15, 16 more or less.

Förstår dock vad du menar med att han är blyg. Dessutom är han nog rädd för att bli mobbad. Kan dock inte avläsa Frollos ansiktsuttryck. Han borde se lättad ut över att det inte var Quasi som stod på scenen!

Frollo tycker inte om Esmeralda. Hon ser utmanande ut och han har sett henne på musik konsären med Quasimodo. Han är äcklig och därför låter jag honom inte se helt lättad ut.

I am always nervous about them. the situation is even worse (if you can believe it as it is super bad to begin with) here.
We don't have the luxury of the time divide, this AU is very present day which makes it feel more real.
Esmeralda is younger here and he is pretty much the same old age.
And Frollo's kids are classmates to Esmeralda.... yeah...
