Description
1: Starts out as a series of sketches; Deciding positions and details2: In Photoshop, all sketches are combined to create a compound sketch
3: Sketch is exported to Illustrator for "inking," then returned to Photoshop and placed over a color I'm not liking to use later (usually bright pink or green)
4: Coloring begins. The line art is duplicated, one copy is locked and the other is filled with base colors using the bucket tool.
5: Highlights and lowlights are added. Basically, I make new layers and set them to multiply (lowlights) and linear dodge (highlights). The same color is used to add high/lowlights as the color it's over (i.e. the shadows on Van's jacket are actually the same green as the rest, just set to multiply)
6: A background is added. In this case, the brick, exterior wall of their apartment
7: SPEECH BUBBLES!
Then done
