Description
The assignment was to illustrate an oxymoron, so IU chose to do '
ure Evil'. In a strange twist of fate, the week I brought this into class was the same week The Passion of the Christ was making a stir in theaters so everyone kept expecting it to burt into flames or something. Representing The Virgin Mary as The Devil is quite risky, but hey, I enjoyed making it.
Please know I am not trying to say anything about how God is the devil or anything, and I sure don't mean to offend anyone, I just took the reperentations of the purist and evilest things I could think of and combined them for the project.

Actually, I REALLY enjoy this piece, and I'm rather religious. It is said in one of St. Paul's epistles that the devil vests himself as an angel of light - so why not as Virgin Mary as well? I did the similar concept, but man - yours rocks on so many levels!

Whether you ment to or not I think this portays the christian religion as it truly is. A selfish and malicious organzation hiding behind a mask of divinity and morality.

I love it. I really love it as a representation, as most people will hate, of the both the good and evil in one of the worlds oldest religious organisations.
Note that it is my own interpretation of it as a representation, not a comment on the artists motivation.
I have to, however, agree with dashinvane; Pure Evil is not an Oxymoron. If it was an image of say, for example God (christian god, commonly associated with goodness and love) manipulating a war on earth (most commonly associated with death and suffering and other consequences of evil actions, then I think it would be closer to the mark.
Being pure and either good or evil go together hand in hand. Being purely evil simply excludes any action or motivation that could be construed or justified as good in any way from being performed by that entity.
All that being said, I do love this piece and extreme amounts of kudos for being brave and picking an image most catholics, or even many christians in general would love to hate you for.

I'm not a prude, but I find this more officeive, then say, mocking Jesus, much more officive then mocking god, and.... If somebody was to defile the bible, i wouldn't give a rats ass about it. Says alot about how werid I am
