Description Um yeah, my friend in Fl asked me to help explain to her how I pixel. Well, this was going to be a whole doll. But I'm going slowly insane, because I'm nto the best person at explaining things and taking things step by step usually drives me mad. lol Not to mention try doing this between essays and projects galore. So heres the first part and I'll slowly add part by part until I get a whole doll. I hope she doesn't mind. I do all this in MS Paint and I pretty much use only the pencil tool and sometimes the fill with color when I have a big area that I just need to fill with one color. This is my first attempt at a tutorial so you'll have to excuse me if it makes no sense or seems stupid. @_@

1. Pretty simple, select your base and erase the little copyright mark thing, if it has one. That way no thinks you stole someone elses doll. Most dollers mark their bases so people can remember where they got them and no one can say that they created it. I don't remember where I got this one. The name didn't correspond with any of the links I have recovered since I had to reinstall Windows, so sorry to however made it. @_@ But I selected a small base since they're easier to start on, the bigger the base, the more large obvious details you need. And if you select too small of one you have to figure out how to make anything look like what it is and it gets pretty crazy.

2. You don't have to do this, but it makes things a bit simpler. I selected palettes for my shirt and jeans color. Usually make my own, but I got these ones from [link] I just edited the blue one slightly so the colors would blend better for the jeans.

3. Next you draw the outline for your jeans in the darkest color or color number 1 here. I numbered the colors so it's a bit easier to follow. I find this easier to do with the pencil tool although it can also be done with the brush tool. Try to keep your lines smooth and only 1 pixel thick. Sometimes its easier to do the waist line with the line tool or curve tool, but on some base I'd recommend doing it by hand.

4. Now take the slightly lighter color, color 2 here, and shade the edges of your jeans about 1 or 2 pixels thick. I made them 2 pixels thick on these jeans, because it seemed to fit better. It takes awhile of pixeling to get an idea of how you want something to look and how the pixels will make it. So don't be afriad of trial and error, you'll get better at it over time. With this color you may also want to make the pockets and a few seams and wrinkles to make them look more like denium jeans.

5. Take your next color, color 3, and follow your shading from step 4. I also made this layer of color 2 pixels thick.

6. Use your next 2 colors the same way. I made color 4 only one pixel thick here and then used to fill with color tool to fill the spaces left with color 5. Now you should have something that looks like a pair of jeans.

7. This last step makes you jeans look a bit mroe realiztic, giving them the rough denium look. Use the pencil tool and put little specks about 1 pixel big of the darker color into the next color up. Like you would put specks of color 2 into color 3. I made a piece of the pants larger so can see what this should look like up close. Once you've finished that, ta-da! Your doll has jeans!

Most palettes I make myself, just playing with shades until it looks right. The link is probably one of the doll sites that have gone down recently. Sorry I can't help much, I have to use a school computer to get on deviantart anymore so I don't have my favorites list to send links from.

My offer to host it on my terribly stark and cold site still stands. XP
